The Russian team at the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 includes 8 Kazan citizens, and two more schoolchildren of the Engineering School became members of the junior team. The championship will increase the interest of children and youth in working specialties. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, expressed this opinion today at the Business Monday.
In total, 15 Tatarstan residents entered the Russian national team. 8 Kazan citizens are among them. They will present their skills in such areas as mobile robotics, web design, restaurant services, medical and social care and others, said Rustem Gafarov, the first deputy head of the Executive Committee.
In addition, for the first time, Juniors World Championship will be held among students aged 10 to 17as part of the WorldSkills. Two young Kazan citizens Egor Tarasov and Ilias Khisameev, students of the KNRTU-KAI Engineering School, will fight for victory.
Kazan schoolchildren will be able to get acquainted with the participants of the Russian team personally. On August 22, students will meet with participants in the national teams of the championship countries within the framework of the educational program “One School, One Country”. In 58 schools of Kazan and the Laishevsky district, children will get acquainted with the culture of the guests, as well as talk about the culture of the peoples of Russia and Tatarstan. Interactive workshops on one of the competencies will also take place.
Everyone can watch the competition of professionals in the championship. The admission to the competition sites will be free by prior registration, reminded the first deputy head of the Executive Committee.
The WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Championship is a significant event not only for Kazan and Tatarstan, but for Russia, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. “The development of the economy, innovation is impossible without professionals. We hope that the championship will help us in the field of professional education”, he said. “The legacy and the infrastructure that will remain is important, of course. But the most important thing is the interest in working professions that will appear among our youth”.
