Ilsur Metshin meets with the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Kazan Guich Garayev

<p> The Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin met with the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Kazan Guich Garayev. They discussed promising areas of cooperation. The meeting, which was held at the Executive Committee of the city, was attended by the Vice-Mayor of Kazan Evgeniya Lodvigova. </p> <p> Guich Garayev assumed the post of Consul General of Turkmenistan in Kazan in August 2022. Earlier, he was the consul of Turkmenistan in Russia. </p> <p> During the conversation with the Mayor Guich Garayev shared his impressions about the city. After that, together with Ilsur Metshin, they outlined the main scope for cooperation between the capital of Tatarstan and Turkmenistan. </p> <p> It should be noted that this cooperation is carried out outside of agreements, Kazan has no Turkmen twin cities or partners. The Plenipotentiary Representation of Tatarstan in Turkmenistan and the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Kazan assist in maintaining international relations. </p> <p> Official visits are held at the republican level. In April 2022, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov paid a one-day working visit to Turkmenistan, where he met with the country's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. And in May, the Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan (Turkmen: Halk Maslahaty) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Tatarstan at the invitation of Rustam Minnikhanov. This visit was connected with participation in events dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the adopting Islam by Volga Bulgaria. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also visited the 13th International Economic Summit “Russia – the Islamic World: KazanSummit 2022”. </p> <p> On September 26 2022, Rustam Minnikhanov met with the President of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat on the occasion of the celebration of the country's Independence Day. At the end of October 2022, Days of Tatarstan Culture in Turkmenistan were held in the cities of Ashgabat and Mary and celebrations of the 1100th anniversary of the adopting Islam by Volga Bulgaria. </p>
