Ilsur Metshin: “There are no secondary roads in Kazan”

In 2022, 23.6 billion rubles were allocated for the development of the Kazan road network.

The work under the Safe High-Quality Roads national project was completed by 69% in Kazan. This year, under the national project and with the support of Tatarstan President, 23.6 billion rubles were allocated for the repair and development of the Kazan road network. “Road repairs are being carried out throughout the entire city – on the central streets and outskirts, in villages and other areas where demanded”, - Ilsur Metshin, Kazan Mayor, reported today at the Business Monday meeting.

Reconstruction of Osinovskaya Street is completed by 58%

This year, 15.2 billion rubles are provided for the construction and reconstruction of the roads in Kazan. “These are fundamental works aimed at creating comfortable traffic,”- said Igor Kulyazhev, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of Kazan.

Among the key projects is the reconstruction of the Gorkovsky highway, the construction of the Voznesensky tract, the expansion of Osinovskaya St., the completion of the construction of the Great Kazan Ring Road, as well as the backup road of the Gorkovsky Highway from Nesmelova Street to the M7 Volga highway. So, work has already been completed on the section of the highway from Nesmelova St. to Admiralteisky Pond with a length of 1.5 km, said the deputy head of the Executive Committee.

“The construction of a four–lane road from Admiralteisky Pond to the Temple of All Religions with a length of 4.7 km is being completed, - I.Kulyazhev said. - Today, the installation of outdoor lighting networks, retaining walls, highway sound barriers are underway, landscaping and installation of asphalt pavement is being carried out”.

Alongside the Gorkovsky Highway is being expanded.

Reconstruction of Osinovskaya Street is also continuing. The work is completed by 58%. It is planned to complete them by the end of the year.

Through traffic on Gvardeyskaya Street will be opened by the end of September

Construction work is also continuing on another site in Kazan – Voznesensky Tract. The highway will handle traffic from adjacent residential areas and significantly reduce the traffic load on the Mamadyshsky tract. The total length of the Voznesensky Tract will be about 12 km. As part of the first stage, three underground pedestrian crossings, two tunnels and an overpass over the railway tracks are being built on the section from Gvardeyskaya Street to Pobedy Ave. The reconstruction of utility lines has been completed, as well as the construction of a storm sewer. Last week, through traffic was launched over the tunnel along Pobedy Ave. from Lomzhinskaya St. towards the Mamadyshsky Tract. The opening of through traffic in the opposite direction is scheduled for September 10, I.Kulyazhev noted. In addition, by the end of September, it is planned to open through traffic along Gvardeyskaya Street.

On the second section of the highway from Pobedy Ave. to the M7 Volga highway with a length of 8 km, preparations are underway for the reconstruction of utility lines. It is planned to build five underground and two overground pedestrian crossings, four overpasses and a bridge over the Noksa River.

As for the Great Kazan Ring Road, the reconstruction of utility lines has been completed on the section of Mekhovshchikov Street from Magistralnaya Street to Devyataev Street with a length of 1.7 km, and new networks are being equipped. “The expansion of the roadway to four lanes will increase the capacity of the road and provide transport links between the Privolzhsky district and the territory of future residential development near the river port with the center”, - said I.Kulyazhev.

1,500 lamps will be installed in 33 villages of Kazan

For reference, in addition to the implementation of major road projects, various sections of Kazan streets are being repaired. Thus, under the Safe High-Quality Roads national project, sections of 6 streets with a total length of 8.5 km will be repaired in the city. “Work is underway at all facilities. The implementation is 69%”, - the deputy head of the Executive Committee said.

In addition, the most worn-out sections of roads and driveways are being repaired. 14 sites out of 32 have already been updated, work continues on 11 more.

This year, road signs will be installed at 86 emergency sites, asphalt pavement will be repaired, and passenger shelters will be organized. These works have already been carried out at 24 sites, I.Kulyazhev noted.

Under the outdoor lighting restoration program, it is planned to install 1.5 thousand lamps in 33 residential areas of the city. New lighting will be installed on 130 streets. “To date, 952 lamps have already been installed”, - I.Kulyazhev reported.

According to him, access roads with a total length of 2 km will be repaired in four gardening companies. “There are no secondary roads in Kazan. Even those three roads that lead to gardening companies unite about 3 thousand garden plots”, – the Mayor noted.
