Ilsur Metshin: «We will pay attention to every veteran»

The Mayor of Kazan instructed to develop a plan of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

At the Business Monday meeting, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin instructed to hold a high-level celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

«This year, we will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of Victory. There is a republican plan of activities, and there will be federal events in which we plan to take part as well», – said the Mayor and instructed Guzel Sagitova, the deputy head of the Executive Committee, to develop a plan of city events.

«I propose to discuss it with veteran organizations and the community to ensure that we celebrate this great holiday with honor and pay attention to each and every veteran», – addressed the Mayor.

Summing up the results of the past year, Azat Abzalov, head of the Department of Culture, reported that cultural institutions, as well as festive and international events had registered 20 million visits in Kazan.

The head of the department, noted that in addition to the annual calendar of festive events such as Victory Day, Russia Day, and City Day, Kazan also hosted a number of major international events.

On Children's Day, the Aybat Childhood Festival was held for the first time, bringing together more than 2,000 young performers on one stage.

The BRICS Games ended in Kazan with the celebration of the Tatar national holiday called Sabantui. «The successful solution was to combine the authentic prologue and the closing ceremony of the Games. More than 100 thousand guests and residents of Kazan saw the real celebration of Tatar culture and became acquainted with our unique traditions», – said Azat Abzalov.

Last August, 19 musical groups from BRICS+ countries gathered in Kazan for the Dixieland Congress. Jazz concerts, film screenings, a Dixieland parade, and a gala concert featuring the consolidated international orchestra took place in the city's central streets and parks.

Among the large-scale cultural events of the previous year, Azat Abzalov mentioned the International Musical Project and the festival of children's author's songs «Our Generation».
