I. Metshin: “With the completion of the repair of the road along Magistralnaya Street, Kazan will get rid of yet another “pain point”

<p> (KZN.RU, August 1, Ksenia Shvetsova). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of the city, inspected the repair of the road with sidewalks along Magistralnaya Street with a length of 3.5 km long. In addition to the road change, the underground networks are being reconstructed there. Today, the work is complete by 70%. According to the Mayor, repairing this road and expanding it to four lanes will allow Kazan to get rid of the old “pain point”. </p> <p> </p> <p> The road along Magistralnaya Street was for a long time considered one of the most broken. The overhaul has not been performed there for more than 20 years. The appearance of the pit, which was unsuccessfully fixed each year, was explained by the malfunctioning of the water supply networks. “Previously there was an old water pipe, which regularly broke. Because of this, the road was flooded with water, it fell through. We patched it every year, but it led nowhere because of faulty networks”, said Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Committee for External Improvement. He added that today this problem was finally resolved. Now all underground networks are working. “We repaired some of the networks, cleaned, built about 3 kilometers of new ones”, he explained. “The road is completely changing. It used to be narrow, now it reaches a width of up to 14 meters”. </p> <p> </p> <p> In addition to the replacement of the roadway, public transport stops and security elements, a complete overhaul of water supply, communications, electricity, gas networks, as well as the construction of new storm sewer networks, which was once built by industrial enterprises, is provided in the complex of overhaul works. Also, the installing of outdoor lighting is included in the overhaul. The workers have already installed 76 out of 95 planned light points. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Mayor noted that the road along Magistralnaya Street was still one of the acutest problems for the city, and citizens have been waiting for its renewal for a long time. However, first of all, the demand for the road is taken into account when choosing new objects of the overhaul. As a rule, preference is given to streets with high traffic. “The problem with this road has long been raised by industrial enterprises and residents. But there is always a choice: to repair roads in the area where live 5 thousand inhabitants or 50 thousand. In such a situation, we will always be forced to make a choice in favor of people, and here is the industrial zone, after all”, said I. Metshin. “But this road also plays an important role. There were a lot of complaints from citizens and enterprises. Thanks to Rustam Minnikhanov, our President, and colleagues from the Government, today we received the long-awaited funding. There are a lot of questions on underground networks, this is a complex site. We hope to fix it”. </p> <p> </p> <p> It is planned to completely finish the overhaul of the road in early December. The work is carried out by the OOO “MC Volga-Avtodor”; 622.8 million rubles have been allocated for the renovation of the road. </p> <p> </p> <p> In total, 5.5 billion rubles was allocated for the repair of roads this year, including 1.6 billion rubles for the implementation of the priority project “Safe and qualitative roads”, 2.9 billion rubles for the street-road network of Kazan, and 1 billion rubles for the repair of yard territories. </p> <p> </p> <p> Andrey Lobov, the head of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts’ administration, and representatives of the contract organizations also took part in the inspection of the road. </p>
