Ilsur Metshin reports on the preparation of city infrastructure for the forum “Russia -Islamic World: KazanForum”

More than 15,000 participants from 65 countries and more than 30 subjects of the country will take part in the forum.

A meeting of the organizing committee of the 24th International Economic Forum “Russia –Islamic World: KazanForum” took place today at the Kazan Expo center. The meeting with the participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov was held by Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Organizing Committee Marat Khusnullin. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin made a report at the meeting.

As of today, representatives of 65 countries and more than 30 regions of Russia have confirmed their participation in the forum. “This underlines the high status of the forum as the main platform for economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the countries of the Islamic world,”- Rustam Minnikhanov said. It is planned that the program of the forum will include more than 150 business sessions, which will be attended by over 750 speakers, the Press Office of the Rais of Tatarstan reports.

Working groups were established in Tatarstan to prepare and hold the forum. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, reported about the preparation of city infrastructure and the accommodation of participants. Fifteen thousand participants will stay in 29 hotels in Kazan and three hotels in the districts of the republic. Recommendations for the reception of guests have been developed for hotels and restaurants, they were coordinated with the Committee on the Halal Standard of the Muslims Spiritual Administration of the republic.

In April, an inspection of hotels for the accommodation of forum participants was launched together with Tatarstan State Committee for Tourism. The English-speaking staff work in the hotels, 24 hotels provide menus in English in their restaurants. Halal dishes will be available in the menu at hotels during the event. After the May holidays, the inspection of hotels will continue, I. Metshin said.

“Fifteen sections of roads with an area of more than 213 thousand square meters are planned to be repaired by the forum in Kazan, the work has been completed by 49%,”- the Mayor noted. He added that 24 bridges and pedestrian crossings will be painted and repaired, fences, walls and stops along the main routes will be updated, the work is 46.7% completed.

Ilsur Metshin reminded that the city will be decorated with floral installations for the forum. In total, it is planned to plant about 9 thousand flowers, 1,400 shrubs and 566 trees. The work was completed by 31%. All landscaping works will be completed by May 15.

In turn, the Rais of Tatarstan noted that work is underway to organize various events during the KazanForum. Among them is a meeting of the Russia – the Islamic World strategic vision group and a panel discussion “The role of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in the sustainable development of regions”.

“Work continues on the organization of the exhibition area of Russia Halal Expo. It is important to demonstrate our potential to foreign partners at the stand of Russia,”-Rustam Minnikhanov noted.
