During the meeting, the Mayor announced the start of construction of a teachers' community center on Podluzhnaya Street
On the eve of Teacher's Day, Ilsur Metshin, met with teachers of the municipal schools. Representatives from pedagogical families, prize-winning teachers, and teachers who have moved to Kazan from various regions of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan attended the meeting at school №107 to discuss the future of education in the capital of the republic of Tatarstan.
The Mayor informed the teachers that in the last 10 years, 25 new schools and 90 new kindergartens were built in Kazan, making it the leader among Russian cities in terms of new school construction. «The education and social infrastructure are the main shares of budget expenditures, where 2/3 of Kazan's funds are allocated. Because there is nothing more valuable than our children», – the Mayor said.
«Being a teacher is a calling, a vocation of the heart and soul. During challenging times, teachers stayed loyal to their profession. We have always looked to you for guidance and continue to rely on you. We express our gratitude and respect for your commitment. The achievements of Kazan's education system deserve recognition. The leadership of the city will continue to work to ensure that you can pass on your knowledge in the best possible conditions», – said Ilsur Metshin, addressing the participants of the meeting.
Over the last five years, teachers in Kazan have won in the republican and federal stages of the «Teacher of the Year» competition many times. Additionally, teachers in the capital receive grants for professional development. Annually 50 teachers receive grants 30,000 rubles each. Ilsur Metshin instructed to review the amount of these grants.
According to the Mayor, 1,300 teachers have arrived in Kazan from other cities and regions over the past five years. «These are excellent initiatives. We are happy to welcome everyone who comes to Kazan for education, especially those who choose to work here, such as teachers and doctors who see their future in the city. The relocation of social workers is the best indication that Kazan is becoming a magnet for the republic, the Volga region, and the country».
The Mayor also told the meeting participants about the construction of a new building of the Teachers’ community center near the Kremlin Embankment. «I think we will complete it next year. It will provide a completely different level and other possibilities. This is a dream that we have already begun to build. The building will be located between the URAM extreme Park and the Elmay Children's Park», – the Mayor said. The building will have a conference room, a lecture hall, and workspaces where teachers will be able to hold events and share experiences.
For reference, there are 173 municipal educational institutions in the capital of the republic of Tatarstan for 172,000 children. In total, 8,700 teachers work in the city's schools.
