The Mayor of Kazan shared his experience in handling issues of traffic congestions caused by mass motorization in the city.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, took part in the meeting of the Chamber of cities – centers of the territorial entities of the Russian Federation of the All-Russian Congress of municipalities via videoconference. The current state and development prospects of urban agglomerations in Russia were discussed at the event which was held today in Moscow.
Ilsur Metshin made a report on the development of the road network and public transport in the city.
The head of the capital of Tatarstan noted that due to the implementation of the national project “Safe and high-quality roads” since 2017, the volume of road works has increased.
In recent years, for Kazan, as for all major cities, the issue of traffic congestions caused by mass motorization has become crucial.
According to I.Metshin, a set of measures is being implemented to increase the capacity of streets and traffic speed.
“We see tomorrow in the development of high-speed transport – such as speed trams and metrobuses, which will lead to a significant optimization of the route network, increase the speed of travel of passengers, increase road safety, reduce the number of urban transports, which will eventually improve the environmental situation in the city”, - the Mayor shared the plans.
