Ilsur Metshin takes part in the opening of the Fakel sports complex after the renovation

After the renovation, children living nearby will be able to attend sports sections in the venue.

The “Fakel” sports complex has been opened in Kazan after the renovation. The venue with an area of more than 400 sq.m comprises a sports hall, a gym, tennis halls, office and comfortable locker rooms. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and Rustem Usmanov, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Kazan LLC, attended the opening ceremony of the renovated sports center.

The three-storey building located on Richard Zorge Street was built in 1988. The renovation of the sports complex began three years ago. During this time, all utilities have been replaced here, the flooring and the decoration of walls and ceilings have been updated, and new doors have been installed. In addition, the front of the building was repaired, landscaping of the adjacent territory was carried out. The sports complex is equipped with modern simulators and new sport equipment.

“I remember the walls of this building before the renovation. Thanks to the management of the enterprise, the sports complex has been completely reconstructed and provided with a modern sport equipment”, - the Mayor emphasized.

The Mayor of the city noted that Fakel sports complex has a rich history and hosted many municipal and national competitions. The sports center was attended not only by gas workers of the enterprise, but also by residents of the city.

Rustem Usmanov, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Kazan LLC, said that gas workers have strengthened their health, maintained physical fitness and achieved sports results for several decades at the Fakel sport venue. “The updated infrastructure will allow complex to remain an important part of the sports life of Kazan”- he said. In addition, according to Rustam Usmanov, free sports sections for children living nearby can be organized here.

“All the necessary conditions are being created in Kazan so that the residents of the city can actively engage in sports and lead a healthy lifestyle. Thanks to such support, Kazan has been named the Sports Capital of Russia”, - the Mayor added.

The head of the city together with the Director General of the company looked around the renovated sports complex, after which I. Metshin and Rustem Usmanov presented letters of thanks to veterans of the gas industry who took part in the construction of the venue- Mansur Gilmanov, Alexey Nastin, Vladimir Karpov and Konstantin Mayorov.

In conclusion, Ilsur Metshin gave a start to the first youth volleyball tournament of the enterprise.

The head of the administration of the Sovetsky district Roman Fatkhutdinov also took part in the event.
