Ilsur Metshin proposes to establish an Association of BRICS cities

The Mayor of the capital of the republic of Tatarstan came up with this idea at the 2nd Kazan International Legal Forum

The Mayor of the capital of the republic of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin proposed to establish an Association of BRICS Cities and legally consolidate its status. Such an initiative was announced at the 2nd Kazan International Legal Forum.

“Today there is a need to establish a new body – the Association of BRICS Cities. Municipalities of friendly countries should have their own voice in the international arena! We see the unprecedented pressure exerted by Western countries on other countries, and we realize that only new political platforms can be an alternative to this pressure,”- the head of the city explained.

He also said that the BRICS summit in Kazan in 2024 will bring together the heads of 26 states. The officials of Russia and friendly countries will take part in it.
