Ilsur Metshin welcomes the participants of the International Legal Forum

<p> The 3^rd Kazan International Legal Forum has begun in the capital of the republic of Tatarstan and will run for two days at the It- Park. Key speakers this year include Pavel Krasheninnikov, Chair of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation; Taliya Khabrieva, Director of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation; and others. During the plenary session, Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Kazan, addressed the participants with a welcome speech. </p> <p> “At the first Kazan International Legal Forum, which took place in 2022, participants from six countries gathered. Today, the geography of the event has expanded to include delegates and participants from 27 countries and over 50 cities in Russia, - said the Mayor. - The event was planned several years ago and has since aroused interest of government officials and the business community, indicating the significance of the initiative.” </p> <p> “The potential of law as a main tool in solving national and international issues is endless. At the forum's sites, like in a crucible, original ideas should be forged and the future outlines of a new world order should take shape,”- Ilsur Metshin expressed his view. He encouraged the participants to submit proposals that would enhance legal practices and benefit people. </p> <p> For reference, at the previous legal forum, the Mayor proposed the creation of an Association of Cities and Municipalities from the BRICS+ countries. This association was established in June 2024, and the event was attended by over 200 mayors, deputy mayors, and chairpersons of city associations who represent one third of the world's population - more than 2.6 billion people. </p> <p> “The Association was initiated as a platform for the exchange of ideas and best practices that are beneficial and necessary for people around the world. The mayors of Russian cities and our international colleagues agree on one important point: despite political differences, we must continue to work every day for the benefit of our citizens. There is plenty of work to be done, such as building houses and roads, establishing schools, improving the social infrastructure, cleaning streets and courtyards, and creating parks and squares,”- Ilsur Metshin noted. </p> <p> He reminded that Kazan will soon host the BRICS summit. In preparation for this event, large-scale work has been carried out in the city, including the repair of roads and buildings, the landscaping of parks and other improvements. In a few weeks, the capital of the republic of Tatarstan will welcome the leaders of several countries. </p> <p> The head of the city also mentioned the 220^th anniversary of Kazan Federal University, noting that the Kazan Law School is one of the oldest in the country. He drew attention to the fact that the first lectures at the Moral and Political Department of Kazan Imperial University, the precursor to the Law Faculty, took place as early as 1804. </p> <p> Kazan Federal University preserves and promotes traditions. The university remains an important part of the city education cluster, serving over 162 thousand students in Kazan. </p> <p> Within the two-day forum, participants will discuss topical issues in international law in light of global transformation, methods for managing bankruptcy projects, successful case studies in judicial journalism, and more. Speakers will discuss control and supervision from the perspective of the state, society, and business, as well as the shortcomings of bankruptcy law and taxation issues. </p>
