Ilsur Metshin inspected the reconstruction of the second stage of the Nizhny Kaban lake embankment

The new site will include phyto-purification cascades, an amphitheater, hammocks, a sports ground, a green area and a picnic park.

The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the reconstruction of the second stage of the Nizhny Kaban lake embankment. The length of two new sections – from Khadi Taktash str. to Nazarbayev str. and along Marjani str. at Old Tatar settlement – is almost 2 km. After completion of the works, phyto-purification cascades, an amphitheater, hammocks, a sports ground, a green area, a picnic park, bike paths and bicycle parking will appear on both sides of the lake. The work is planned to be completed by the beginning of autumn this year.

As Kamil Zakirov, director of municipal improvement enterprise, told the mayor, a stand and a sports ground with a rubber coating and simulators will be installed on the territory of the promenade from the existing embankment towards Nazarbayev str. Besides, there will be a pedestrian bridge to Marjani str. Benches, litter boxes, flowerbeds and navigation will be installed on the embankment along Marjani str., from which access to the water will be opened. Boat rentals, cafes and toilets will also be available there.

Presently, construction and installation works are underway along the embankment – the concrete cascades, phyto-purification facilities, fences of future pedestrian alley.

The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin noted, when carrying out the work, it is necessary to consider the all the possible proposals of citizens. “According to the experience of the first stage of reconstruction of the embankment, there were many of them”, - the Mayor said.

“We have a major infrastructure task, - Ilsur Metshin said. – What we have today is a completely different level, there are other opportunities here. We have picked up a good pace, we are working on the lake, we are engaged in strengthening the shore. The most important thing is that at the beginning of autumn we will complete this stage and will have an opportunity to please citizens and guests of the capital with a new wonderful site in the heart of the city, a real gem”, - the Mayor of Kazan summed up the inspection.

In total, six public spaces are planned to be improved in Kazan in 2020.

Reconstruction of the Nizhny Kaban lake embankment is one of the largest and most important improvement projects. The first stage of improvement –from the Kamal theater to the fitness center - completed in 2018. Comfortable walking areas, benches, flowers, decorative lighting and beautiful plants – came into view of citizens after the completion of the first stage of reconstruction.
