Ilsur Metshin about KNITU-KAI engineering lyceum: “Children, studying here, are the talent pool of our country”

<p> Today, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited the KNITU-KAI engineering lyceum, which is currently one of the best physics and mathematics school in the country. The head of the city talked to the students and expressed confidence that the talented graduates of the lyceum will make a great contribution to the development of the whole country with their knowledge. </p> <p> <b>“We have created a full design cycle- from a concept to implementation”</b> </p> <p> Engineering lyceum of KNITU-KAI, which is a structural unit of the Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev, has been functioning since 2015. Lyceum students study almost the entire range of modern engineering sciences, from robotics to computer design. </p> <p> The lyceum is located in the renovated building of the former school. During the renovation, a unique designing area was created on the fourth floor of the building. It is equipped with modern devices that allow students to implement their ideas. The design zone is one of a kind in the Russian system of secondary education in terms of its equipment and approaches used in the organization of the engineering environment, said Albert Gilmutdinov, rector of KNITU-KAI. </p> <p> <b>Lyceum students brought 10 medals to the Tatarstan National team at the WorldSkills Championships</b> </p> <p> Presently, the lyceum enters the top 3 Russian schools according to the results of the unified state exam in physics, mathematics and the Russian language, and for the last two years it has been ranked first in the Republic. </p> <p> “Most of all, we are proud of our participation in the WorldSkills Championships. According to the results of different stages of the Championships, our lyceum is the best in Russia, – said the Director of the lyceum Dinar Gabidullin to the Mayor. – At the last WorldSkills National Championships, we earned 9% of all points, as a result, the national team of the Republic took first place in Russia”. The national team of Tatarstan included 10 lyceum students who won 6 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals, he added. </p> <p> The Mayor inspected the computer science and engineering graphics class rooms, where members of the WorldSkills team of the Republic of Tatarstan were training. </p> <p> <b>Designing area: flying wing, drone and FPV goggles</b> </p> <p> At the designing area, I.Metshin got acquainted with the projects of the students. </p> <p> The Mayor's attention was drawn to an unmanned aerial vehicle, the so-called flying wing. The head of the city evaluated the device and expressed confidence that in the future its young developers will achieve even greater results. </p> <p> Also, the designing area has got a special zone for an autonomy flight of quadcopters developed by lyceum students. </p> <p> Yegor Tarasov, a 10th-grade student and WorldSkills champion of Russia in 2019, showed to the Mayor a guided flight of a drone with the lifting a tennis ball. After that, I. Metshin tried to operate the device, as well as a special FPV goggles that create a sense of a real flight. </p> <p> The lyceum focuses not only on STEM disciplines – for example, I.Metshin, also attended a leadership lesson, where he talked with the children and gave them some advice. </p> <p> In conclusion, the head of the city thanked the rector and teachers for their work and wished the students success. “The children, studying here, are actually the talent pool not only of our city, but of the whole country, he said. -Your work is not just impressive, but inspires confidence in the future. When we see such a lyceum, such talented children who are in love with the future and are ready to change the world for the better, it delights our heart. I am sure that you have many projects ahead that will benefit the whole world”. </p>
