The closing ceremony for the second season of the Longevity Games took place in Kazan, which gathered 3,500 Kazan pensioners.
The closing ceremony of the second season of the Longevity Games took place today at the Trudovye Reservy Stadium in Kazan. Over 3,500 pensioners from the city were were awarded by Guzel Sagitova, Deputy head of the Executive Committee, Albert Bagautdinov, honored worker of physical culture of Tatarstan and Russia, Nikolai Kolesnikov, two-time world weightlifting champion and Olga Voschakina, a world fencing champion.
This year, 3,500 Kazan elderly people from different districts of the city took part in the second season of the Longevity Games. The pensioners competed in 10 different sports: table tennis, chess, swimming, cross-country skiing, volleyball, football, Nordic walking, and some new ones, such as checkers and mini-volley, as well as a special category called “Most Loyal Fans”.
The team from the Vakhitovsky city district became the overall winner, while Rinat Gataullin (64) and Larisa Avdeyeva (57) were named the best athletes, receiving the Sports Honor title.
Nailya Timiryasova, from the Sovetsky city district, became the oldest competitor in the competition, as this year marks her 90th birthday.
For reference, Active Longevity programs in the regions of the country are being implemented under the Family national project.
