The Mayor of Kazan invited journalists to inspect the first section of the fifth flying highway under construction
In October, traffic will be launched in Kazan along the first section of the Voznesensky Tract – from Gvardeyskaya Street to Pobedy Avenue. At the moment, construction work here has been completed by 94%. The Mayor of the city Ilsur Metshin invited by journalists for a press tour on the new road.
The construction of the Voznesensky tract with a length of 11.3 km started in 2021. It will run from the Ametyevskaya highway to Pobedy Avenue and will exit on the federal highway M-7. The highway will unload the Mamadyshsky tract and take over traffic from nearby residential neighborhoods. One hundred and fifty-five road workers and 97 vehicles work daily at the site. According to Igor Kulyazhev, deputy head of the Executive Committee, the length of the first section is 3.8 km, the estimated speed is 70 km/h with three lanes in both directions. For public transport, a lane with a width of 4 m is provided.
Two overpasses are installed on the site on Pobedy Avenue and Gvardeyskaya Street, and three underpasses on A.Kutuya str., Rodina str. and Zhiganov str. “The road provides for continuous traffic without traffic lights, there will be turning loops or overpasses at intersections. A 4.5 m wide sidewalk and an additional 2.5 m bike path for pedestrians. To meet desires of the fans of cycling and a healthy lifestyle, we provide bicycle paths in advance with the project,”- Igor Kulyazhev noted.
According to him, there are also intra- and inter-quarter driveways adjacent to the Voznesensky Tract. It will also allow to unload the traffic.
The second section of the Voznesensky tract with a length of 7.5 km will run from Pobedy Avenue to M-7. Today, the site is being prepared here, the construction of two underpasses, a bridge over the Noksa River, an interchange at the junction with the highway. Aboveground pedestrian crossings are provided on Zakieva and Minskaya streets. More than ninety road workers work at the facility, as well as 232 vehicles. The work is completed by 27%.
As Ilsur Metshin noted, the Voznesensky tract will be the fifth flying highway of Kazan without traffic lights. Thus, in 15-20 minutes, drivers will be able to get from the center to the M-7 highway.
According to the Mayor, the construction of the Voznesensky tract will also be an impetus for the renovation of the industrial and depressive area at Rodina str. Previously, this was justified, since the territory was considered the outskirts of the city, but today it is already the center, the Mayor stressed. It will be a transformed residential area, where six new schools, twenty preschools, squares, parks, sports and medical facilities will appear.
“The entire infrastructure will be built at the same time. On the second section, work is underway, so the full opening of traffic along the Voznesensky tract to the federal highway M-7 is nearing completion. We will do as we have dreamed for 50 years, so that we can drive along this road without any problems for another half a century,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
