This weekend, the Night Bike Fest will be held in the capital of Tatarstan with a route length of 17 km
The Night Bike Fest in Kazan will take place on 1 – 2 July. The participants of the bike tour will overcome the route with a length of 17 km in 2.5 hours. They will be told about the 2013 World Summer Universiade, Director of the Kazan Tourism Development Committee Daria Sannikova informed at the Business Monday meeting. Special guest stars of the Universiade 2013 will join the event: prize-winners Yana Martynova and Nafis Minnebayev.
“Cycling is becoming more and more popular in Kazan. We will try to keep up with this development and create conditions,”- said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of the capital of the republic of Tatarstan, adding that new city roads, parks and squares meet these requirements and coordinated with the traffic police.
According to Daria Sannikova, about 1 thousand people have already registered to participate in the Night Bike Fest.
“Bike Fest participants will see interesting sites and listen to guides. If earlier we talked about the history of past centuries, today we are adding to this the latest history of Kazan – the Universiade, which we created, won, brought and hosted. And today it is already the 10-year history of our new Kazan. Therefore, many people will not just be interested in listening – volunteers, participants and organizers themselves will add their interesting stories,”- the head of the city noted.
According to Daria Sannikova, the Night Bike Fest will begin at 22:00. The bike tour will pass along the historical part of the city and the Zarechny district.
Three stops are planned along the route: at the Koltso shopping mall from Shcherbakovsky Lane, on Yarmorochnaya Square and near the Kazan Family Center – a food court will be equipped here, so participants will be able not only to relax, but also to refresh. The finishing point will be at the Uram extreme park.
“We offer participants to wear outfits with the 2013 Universiade logo and post them on the VKontakte social network with the hashtag #nightbikefest2023, and at the finish we will choose the brightest and most creative participants and give gifts from our project,”- shared the director of the city Committee for Tourism Development.
Order and safety at the event will be provided by traffic police and medical services. Participants of the bike race must have reflective elements on their clothes, lighting devices on the bike and protective equipment.
“During the event, the restriction of traffic along the movement of the bike column will be organized. In this connection, I ask you to choose other ways of moving around the city, as well as not to park cars on the streets along the bike fest route,”- Daria Sannikova noted.
According to her, registration for the Night Bike Fest will be open until 22:00 on July 1. Participants under the age of 18 are allowed only if accompanied by adults.
This year, advertising of the upcoming event was posted on billboards in the partner city of Nizhny Novgorod, as well as on a tourist bus in St. Petersburg and on social networks in Astrakhan, Vladikavkaz, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Makhachkala and other cities.
