Ilsur Metshin about the upcoming Sabantuy in Kazan: "I hope our citizens will like the innovations”

The holiday in the capital of the republic of Tatarstan will be held on June 24 at three locations

The celebration of Sabantuy will begin with the collection of gifts of the holiday and horse races. The central location (maidan) will be the Birch grove of the village of Mirny – it will host a concert, as well as master classes on various topics from 11 districts of Tatarstan. In addition, Sabantuy will be held in the Birch grove of the village of Derbyshki in the Sovetsky city district and at Lebyazhye Park in the Kirovsky city district. The head of the Department of Culture of the Executive Committee of the city Azat Abzalov informed about this at the Business Monday meeting.

The head of the Department of Culture said that the celebration of the traditional Tatar holiday will begin with the folk tradition of collecting gifts of Sabantuy. On June 21 at 10:00, a horse carriage will pass in the village of Derbyshki, and on the square in front of the Said-Galiev recreation center folk festivals will unfold with the performance of folklore groups. The holiday will also take place in the village of Zalesny and in Salavat Kupere residential area.

On June 23, the collection of gifts will take place at 11:00 am in the historical center of Kazan. Several horse-drawn carriages will pass through Kremlevskaya st,, Pushkina st., Baumana st., Ostrovskogo st., Kayum Nasyri st. and unite on the square near the Kamala Theater, where the concert program will begin at 12:30.

On the same day, the celebration of Sabantuy will begin with horse races at the Kazan Hippodrome. A concert program, a performance of the Volgograd equestrian school, a traditional lottery with a raffle of valuable prizes, as well as 14 races will be held there.

“This year we tried to make changes and added more national colors. I hope our citizens will like the innovations – we have been discussing the program with the organizers for a long time,”- the head of the city noted.

On June 24, the Kazan festivities will continue at three sites: in the Birch groves of the villages of Mirny and Derbyshki, as well as in Lebyazhye Park.

Azat Abzalov noted visitors will have an opportunity to practice crafts, cook a national dish or study Tatar dance.

To create a special atmosphere on Sabantuy, guests of the holiday are asked to wear national costumes. Everyone who comes in folk costume will be offered a photo session in a special photo zone Faces of Sabantuy.

In the village of Mirny, eleven authentic farmsteads will be equipped, which will be dedicated to the districts of Tatarstan. Among them are Arsky, Alekseevsky, Buinsky, Vysokogorsky, Zelenodolsky, Zainsky, Kukmorsky, Laishevsky, Nurlatsky, Mendeleevsky and Rybno-Slobodsky districts. Unique master classes and competitions will be held in each of the farmsteads.

Popular singers and dance and vocal groups from all over the republic will perform in Mirny.

Festive performances, competitions and master classes will also take place in the Birch Grove of the village of Derbyshki and on the territory of Lebyazhye Park in the Kirovsky city district.

The guests will see the koresh wrestling competitions, where the best batyrs of Kazan and Tatarstan will take part. Summer cafes and retail outlets will be opened on each Sabantuy’s site.
