Ilsur Metshin about a new school in Rauis Gareev Street: “Such a large modern school needs a ski base!”

The Mayor of Kazan instructed to take into account creating ski bases in the construction of schools.

The general construction work has already been fully completed at the school on Rauis Gareev Street near the residential complex “Solovinaya Roscha”, which is scheduled to open in the new academic year. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, ordered the school to open a ski base for students during the inspection of the facility. He monitored the progress of construction work and noted the need to include the possibility of organizing ski bases in the construction projects of new schools.

A new school for 1224 places is a very long-awaited gift for Kazan citizens. For today, parents have filed 716 applications for enrollment of children from grades 1 through 8. “About 620 applications were submitted by parents of children from 1 to 4 grades. Primary school is almost full”, said Ilnar Khidiyatov, the head of the Department of Education.

Young families with young children live in the new, still under construction RC “Solovinaya Roscha”. This is why new educational institutions are so much in demand. After the school on Rauis Gareev Street, which is being built by SK “Ak Tash”, another school is planned to be built in the future. Two educational institutions will unite the core of a single sport: a sports ground and a football field.

“The main works have already been completed, finishing works are underway”, said Dmitry Klykov, the deputy director of the “Ak Tash”. “We are completing the stage of electrical work, ventilation, air conditioning. We will definitely finish by September 1”.

The school is being built within the framework of the federal program for a standard project. It will have 2 swimming pools, 2 gyms, and it is planned to provide training rooms with modern equipment. Rima Mukhameshina, the director of the Department of Food and Social Catering of Kazan, presented the draft of a canteen to the Mayor.

Azit Zamaldinov, the future director of the school, drew attention to the fact that the school could have opened a ski base on the ground floor. But minor amendments should be made to the construction project. However, changes in the construction of schools on a single model project are made only at the level of design, color design, noted representatives of the contracting organization.

Andrey Lobov, the head of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts’ administration, noted that larger changes are possible, but they are made after the delivering of the object and are coordinated for fire safety. “The contractor made a ski base in the 98th school, they are now coordinating with the firemen”, said A. Lobov.

“I understand the builders, they have a finished project that has passed the examination, from which they cannot retreat. But this does not mean that we cannot do it at all”, the Mayor of Kazan answered. “6 thousand square meters remain on the basement, and a huge number of children want to study there. It was necessary to solve this issue earlier. It is necessary either now or after the delivering of the object to resolve it”.

In the future, the issue of organizing ski bases should be considered at the design stage when building schools”, marked I. Metshin. “We want to be a sports city so that children lead a healthy lifestyle. And at the same time, there is no ski base for children in such a huge school for 1224 places, which is located next to the forest”, he said. “This is a school of the XXI century, but as it turns out now, there are flaws in the lack of conditions for skiing”.

The construction of new educational institutions is one of the most important areas for Kazan, noted the head of the city. He reminded that the capital of Tatarstan has been setting birthrate records for years. “Baby boom, which Kazan experienced, continues to delight us. We have 21% of children up to 16 years old, it is huge numbers for million-population cities. Thank God, the number of children is growing, but we have to keep up with the social infrastructure”. This year, it is planned to build 11 kindergartens and 3 new schools in Kazan, added I. Metshin.

This year, 3 schools are being built in Kazan for 2849 places within the framework of federal and republican programs.
