Ilsur Metshin: «We need to open a space that will honor the memory of Sara Sadykova in the intersection of the New and Old Kazan»

The Mayor of Kazan instructed to develop a concept for a memorial park with a monument to a Tatar composer

A monument to the Tatar composer, actress, and singer Sara Sadykova is planned to be installed in Kazan, on the territory of the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin held an off-site meeting to discuss the development of a reconstruction project for the square at the intersection of Tatarstan and Gabdulla Tukai streets, as well as the concept for the monument.

«We have agreed on a location for the monument - in Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda Square. This area is where most of Sarah Sadykova's life was spent. The location is appropriate for a great composer,» said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.

The decision to install the monument in Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda is due to the fact that composer's entire life was closely tied to this area. The square will be designed and landscaped according to the monument's concept.

A famous Tatar sculptor Rim Akchurin will continue his work on commemorating the People's Artist. Ilsur Metshin suggested that the monument should be given an additional element honoring female water bearers.

Earlier, Ilsur Metshin met with the daughter of Tatar composer Alfiya Aidarskaya and congratulated her on her 100th birthday. During the meeting, the Mayor also discussed the project for installing a monument to Sara Sadikova with her.
