The anti-crisis law potential, the issues of training and digitalization of civil proceedings were discussed today at the plenary session of the first Kazan International Legal Forum “The Right to Law”. The forum, which brought together about 400 participants from six countries and more than 30 cities, opened in the Imperial Hall of Kazan Federal University.

“The topic of the forum "The Right to Law” is very consonant with the present day, – Lenar Safin, the rector of the university noted in a welcoming speech. – Today it is important to find the points of support on which the domestic and international legal order will be based. And we would like to unite lawyers, authorities, the legal community to choose expert positions and discuss topical issues in our university”.

On behalf of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, the forum participants were greeted by Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin. According to him, the forum discussions are more relevant than ever. Law is the foothold of society and the state, and Tatarstan has always shared a similar position, F.Mukhametshin noted. “Speaking about our beautiful city, I would like to note that Kazan rightfully occupies a prominent place in the history of Russian jurisprudence thanks to its own law school, formed within the walls of Kazan University more than 200 years ago”, - the Chairman of Tatarstan State Council noted.

“It is hard to overestimate the contribution of Kazan University in the development of legal science and education in our country, - Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and a graduate of the university's law faculty, confirmed. - Since the foundation of the university, a moral and political faculty has been established, where lawyers were trained for from the Volga to the Far East of the Russian Empire”.

I.Metshin reminded that such famous figures of science, culture and politics as Dmitry Meyer, Gabriel Shershenevich, Sergey Aksakov, Lev Tolstoy and Vladimir Lenin were students of the law faculty. “The modern history of the law faculty, which resumed its operation at Kazan State University 70 years ago, is no less glorious and significant. As a graduate of the law faculty, I can say with confidence and pride that many outstanding scientists and the best specialists in their field have worked at the faculty and continue to make a significant contribution to the development of law schools”, - the Mayor said.

According to him, the Kazan International Legal Forum allows exchanging ideas, searching for solutions to legal issues, as well as providing a new impetus to scientific research.

At the end of his speech, I. Metshin awarded medals and the Dmitry Meyer Prize to Talia Khabrieva, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation, and Vladimir Yarkov, Head of the Department of Civil Proceedings at the Ural State Law University.
