Ilsur Metshin: “We set the task to address the problems of residential areas systematically”

Twenty-two village roads will be repaired and 1,352 lamps will be installed.

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, met with the heads of the territorial public self-governments at the Moskovsky cultural center today. They discussed the construction and repair of roads, driveways to villages, social facilities, lighting networks and utilities.

More than 200 thousand Kazan residents live in the residential areas – 20% of the total number of residents of the city

As Ilsur Metshin noted, there are 65 territorial public self-governments in Kazan to date.

Now more than 200 thousand Kazan residents live in the residential areas, which is 20% of the total number of residents of the city.

“Seeing as how the population in the residential areas is growing, as how the requests of residents are changing, we came to the conclusion that this work requires a lot of effort, and decided to create a separate department, which will be supervised by the deputy head of the Executive Committee Iskander Giniyatullin. This does not absolve the responsibility from the heads of district administrations. We simply set the task to address the problems not incidentally, but systematically”, - the Mayor said.

340 roads on an area of 1 million sq.m. were repaired in the residential areas

I.Giniyatullin, deputy head of the Executive Committee, noted that 340 roads have already been repaired in the residential areas on an area of 1 million sq.m. This year, to provide driveways to social facilities in the villages, 22 roads on an area of 56 thousand sq.m. have been repaired for a total of 200 million rubles.

I. Giniyatullin also reported on a number of problematic issues, one of which is the state of the municipal infrastructure. For example, in summer time the water supply pressure is low in the villages, so there is a need to loop the networks. Presently, MUE Vodokanal is already carrying out work on the normalization of water supply in the residential areas.

Almost 100% of residential areas are provided with gas supply networks. “To date, only newly built houses and partially streets with such houses in the villages of Salmachi, Tatvalenok, Chernopenye, Mirny and Voenny gorodok-32 have not been gasified. Approximately 70 million rubles are needed for these works”, - added I.Giniyatullin.

Speaking about electricity supply, the deputy head of the Executive Committee noted that all houses in the residential areas are connected to electricity. However, there is a number of appeals from residents of some villages where the Setevaya Company is already working to improve the networks.

I.Giniyatullin also drew attention to the issues of street lighting. “The total provision of villages with street lighting is 56%. For full coverage of the network, more than 200 million rubles are required,”- said the deputy head of the Executive Committee. He added that in the near future it is planned to install 1,352 lamps, and more than 5 thousand lamps will be replaced with new ones.

As for the collection of solid municipal waste in the villages, where there is also wood and plant waste, and for its storage, there should be spacious bin grounds, said the deputy head of the Executive Committee. “Unfortunately, no budget funds for the construction and maintenance of grounds are allocated. For this purpose, the requested funding is about 400 million rubles”, - he said.

A road map will be developed to solve the problems in the villages

The most challenging issues in the villages were also reported by the heads of the territorial public self-governments. Among the main issues, they highlighted the lack of paved roads, the waste disposal and the cleaning of waste disposal area, poor water supply and worn-out utility networks, as well as the lack of social facilities.

“I see that the residents and you are ready to work in concert, this is very important. Only together can we solve these tasks. Life is changing very quickly, and the wishes of inhabitants are absolutely reasonable”, - Ilsur Metshin said in conclusion. He instructed Iskander Giniyatullin, together with the heads of district administrations, to systematize all the issues raised and develop a roadmap for their solution.
