<p> On Monday, classes began in the new two-storey building of school № 19 in the Privolzhsky district of Kazan, designed for 300 schoolchildren. Its construction was completed at the end of December. Previously, the actual number of students was more than twice the design capacity of the school, originally designed for 800 students. There were 18 students per place in the school cafeteria – it took 15 breaks to feed all the children. Now, thanks to the new canteen, which operates in the format of a school restaurant, all students have time to have lunch in 4 breaks. </p> <p> “I want to congratulate the students and teachers. I want to thank the Rais (head) of our republic Rustam Minnikhanov, who supported the construction of an additional building. Every year, the school shows good results at various Scientific Olympiads, and wins at the regional, federal and even international levels. We are confident that the comfortable conditions created for studying and extracurricular activities will further enhance the success of the children,”- Ilsur Metshin said. </p> <p> Andrey Talmanov, the school principal, told the Mayor of Kazan about how the school space has been transformed. The new building has its own hall of creativity, where, for example, meetings of school activists are held. Ten years ago, Fairs of Goodness were established in this school, which then developed into the large urban movement “Good Kazan”. According to Andrey Talmanov, students of theater and music studios will have classed at the hall. </p> <p> A multipurpose space has been designed on the second floor. School concerts and other events can be organized here. Students can play table football and tennis, as well as air hockey. </p> <p> In the gym, children will play basketball, volleyball and mini-football. The school mini-football team has repeatedly won competitions: this season, the eleventh-graders won the third place in Tatarstan. Before that, young men won gold among educational institutions in the Volga region. There are several treadmill simulators installed in the gym. </p> <p> The old building was completely renovated in summer. Workers replaced the roof, updated the front, utilities and the entrance group, repaired the assembly and sports halls, as well as bathrooms. </p> <p> “The whole school has been updated. Now students have all the opportunities to develop in many ways. We do everything to ensure that children grow up happy. Kazan is a leader in the construction of social infrastructure, and we will not back down. This year, we will build three more schools – in the M-14 district, the Vesna residential complex and the Rodina residential complex. The construction workers promise us to build them by September 1,”- the head of the city said. </p> <p> By this academic year, four new schools for 6,000 students were opened in Kazan. New educational institutions were opened in the Sovetsky, Novo-Savinovsky and Privolzhsky city districts. </p>
