The results of road safety for the first quarter of 2018 have been discussed in Kazan.
(KZN.RU, May 22). In the near future, it is planned to continue work to improve the level of traffic safety on the Kazan roads and pay special attention to the roads included in the World Cup route. These and other issues on ensuring road safety for the first quarter of this year were discussed at a meeting that was held today by Ildar Shakirov, the first deputy head of the Executive Committee, in the City Hall. The meeting was attended by heads of transport enterprises, as well as deputy heads of city districts.
Igor Novikov, the head of the traffic police department for Kazan, reported on the road situation in the city on the basis of the first half of the year. He noted that according to the results of the last year, 80 places for concentration of road accidents were identified in Kazan. Today, the prevention work is being carried out in all these potentially dangerous areas. The condition of the road surface is being improved in the framework of the program “Safe and high-quality roads”. In some areas, the traffic lights are being changed, etc.
I. Novikov also noted that a significant number of accidents in Kazan is associated with the falling of passengers in public transport. "The driver is responsible for the severe stopping”, said the speaker. He added that if the passenger fell because he did not hold onto the handrail in the cabin, then the fault lay on the passenger. The head of the traffic police department recommended using records from DVRs to resolve contentious issues, and, if possible, equip the passenger transport cabinets with video surveillance cameras. “Records should be provided at least within a week from the beginning of the operational investigation of an accident”, said I. Novikov.
In addition, the speaker noted that usually, the same drivers who often violate the traffic rules create a traffic accident with public transport. Ildar Shakirov urged for special attention to be paid to such drivers. “It happens that dangerous drivers move from one transport enterprise to another. It is necessary to track this”, emphasized I. Shakirov and marked the need to request recommendations from the previous place of work in order to prevent such drivers from working on public transport.
He also noted that today there are too many signposts on the roads in Kazan that interfering in the traffic, distracting drivers, and in general spoils the appearance of the city. “There is a lot of uncoordinated visual information, advertising. I ask the heads of all districts to work through this issue and dismantle all unnecessary advertising signs. It needs to be done before the World Cup”, said I. Shakirov.
In the near future, it is planned to continue implementing measures to improve the level of road safety in Kazan. Special attention is paid to the roads entering the World Cup route: the check for the presence of all traffic signs, traffic lights, etc.
