Igor Stolyarov: “Games of the Future will become a new stage in the development of world sports”

<p> The international tournament “Games of the Future” will become a new stage in the development of world sports, as they offer an innovative product in the context of a crisis of the traditional competition formats. This was announced by Igor Stolyarov at a meeting of the youth council of the tournament at the “Russia” exhibition and Forum. </p> <p> “World sport, thanks to the International Olympic Committee, is in a sturdy state. Major sports organizations are rather clumsy, and TV broadcasts’ rates are also decreasing. In some stadiums, it is even forbidden to use the public Internet to prevent streams. Games of the Future will give a new impetus to the development of world sports,”- Igor Stolyarov said. </p> <p> According to him, phygital is the reincarnation of a sport where there are its own rules, in particular, there are no penalties in hockey, and the ball in mini–football bounces off the board so that there are no stops. “We want nothing to stop, because the worst thing is to stop,”- explained the head of the tournament. </p> <p> For reference, Games of the Future will be held in Kazan on February 21 - March 3, 2024. The competitions will combine 21 hybrid disciplines. Each of them combines the concept of phygital- traditional sports and esports or VR/AR technology. It is expected that more than 2,500 participants from 100 countries will take part in the competitions, and up to 150 million people will watch the Games online. </p>
