The III session of the Kazan City Duma summed up the results of the Year of Memory and Glory.
In the Year of Memory and Glory, more than 50 projects and events were planned in Kazan. Today, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at the meeting of the III session of the Kazan City Duma of the fourth convocation at the City Hall emphasized that this year gave another occasion to pay tribute to all those who made invaluable contribution to the Victory.
Due to the pandemic, most of the events were held online
“We are all children, grandchildren and great – grandchildren of participants and heroes of the Great Patriotic War, and immeasurable respect and pride for our country and our people who laid down their lives in the name of victory will always live in our hearts, - Ilsur Metshin said. – We are proud of them, and the anniversary year gave another opportunity to pay tribute to people who made an invaluable contribution at the war and home fronts, working without rest in factories, hospitals and scientific laboratories”.
Rustem Gafarov, head of the Kazan Executive Committee, spoke in more detail about the results of the Year of Memory and Glory, and patriotic education in Kazan.
On the eve of Victory Day, Kazan veterans were awarded 8,336 medals “75 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”.
A significant event in the Year of Memory and Glory was the awarding of the title of “City of Labor Valor” to Kazan.
Rustem Gafarov noted that more than 50 projects and events were planned in the Year of Memory and Glory. Due to the pandemic, events were held online. Rustem Gafarov said that on the eve of Victory Day, special attention was paid to the main heroes of the celebration – veterans. For the first time this year, festive concerts were held right under their windows.
The solemn passage of the troops of the Kazan garrison in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War this year was held on June 24.
“Victory Volunteers” train veterans in computer literacy
Patriotic actions were also supported by the city schools – they took part in all-Russian projects.
In total, there are 924 voluntary associations and organizations of civil and patriotic orientation in Kazan. One of the largest is the Young Army school movement.
The head of the regional headquarters of the Young Army patriotic movement Alexander Borodin said that this year the opening of the House of Young Army took place in Kazan. Now members will be able to organize meetings with veterans to address organizational issues for the development of children's movement.
The Kazan branch of the Victory Volunteers movement is also engaged in patriotic education of young people. Secretary of the Youth Parliament, member of the Commission on support of family values, education and prevention of offenses and the Commission on issues in the field of entrepreneurship, employment and self-realization, Deputy head of the Victory Volunteers Faina Grin said that the Victory volunteers launched two flagship projects: “Veteran online” in which volunteers train veterans in computer literacy, and “Mobile Teams” which provides war veterans and disabled people, at the expense of the federal budget, with free mobile phones and train them to use a smartphone.
“Preserving memory is also a legacy of the Year of Memory and Glory”
Lyudmila Andreyeva, a deputy, spoke about work of deputies of the Kazan City Duma in the Year of Memory and Glory. According to her, all factions of the Duma had their own projects, but the most remarkable was “The war has not a feminine face.”
Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Leyla Fazleyeva spoke about preserving the memory of people and enterprises that made a significant contribution to the Victory and development of Tatarstan and Kazan. She reminded that this year, together with the archives, the book “All for the Front, all for Victory” was created.
In turn, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin noted that patriotic education is not only preserving the memory of the contribution of our multinational people to the Victory, but also educating the younger generation to love our culture and our traditions.
The head of the city also appealed to the government of the republic with a request to support the Center for Patriotic Education, which is planned to be established in Kazan.
The mayor also noted that today it is necessary to start preparation for the next anniversary of the victory.
