I.Metshin: “We have to make leaps forward in the organization of the sorting garbage next year”

The project was discussed in the Kazan Executive Committee.

The project of the sorting garbage collection and its implementation was discussed on the conference under the chairmanship of Ilsur Metshin in the Kazan Executive Committee. The Mayor of the city noted that the capital city of Tatarastan should realize this project, and its efficiency depended on the development of the recycling.

Two approaches to the sorting garbage: 389 tons of the recycling and the reduction of mixed wastes to a third

In the beginning of the conference Iskander Giniyatullin, the deputy head of the Executive Committee, announced the results of the pilot project for the separate waste collection which started on August 1 in the Aviastroitelny district. 428 special bins were installed at 109 container sites. According to Giniyatullin's words, for three months it was possible to increase the volume of the recycling up to 15% on this territory. 389 tons of garbage was extracted.

The platform for the sorting garbage of six factions was set on the territory of the house №100 on Dekabristov street - paper, glass, PET, metal mixed of wastes and dangerous wastes. According to information of the controlling company, for two months of work the volume of mixed wastes decreased by 30%. The chapter of the city named such results impressive.

“The related savings amounted to 20 thousand roubles a month”, - Iskander Giniyatullin established. At the same time charges to the device of the platform were accounted for more than 550 thousand roubles. During the discussion he offered to enter the standard of such platforms for the sorting garbage for the new apartment buildings which will be built in the city.

The development of the recycling was discussed on the conference, which could stimulate a more active implementation of the sorting garbage in the city. Iskander Giniyatullin gave the example of three types of the recycling in Russia, moreover, it was possible to recycle two types of garbage, and two ones were not recycled. The Mayor of Kazan offered to study the experience of China in the recycling.

Fr om PET-bottles and papers for recycling to the sorting garbage in bags

The chapters of the districts' administrations of the city spoke of steps for the implementation of the sorting garbage on their territory.

Monthly 50 thousand cubic meters of garbage are formed in the apartment buildings and the private housing of the Aviastroitelny and Novo-Savinovsky districts. 5 recycling items work on the territory. 120 containers for the sorting of PET-bottles are set in the courtyards, the containers for the recycling of the paper and batteries are set in 29 houses, next year about 20 containers for the sorting of dangerous wastes will be constructed in the places of the increased traffic, as Timur Alibaev, the chapter of the Aviastroitelny and Novo-Savinovsky districts's administration, told.

The sociological interrogation was conducted a survey in the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts. The results of the interrogation were announced by the chapter of the districts' administration Sergei Mironov: 43% of the respondents believed that time for the sorting garbage had come. More than 50% of the citizens noted that they were ready to sort wastes, if all the conditions were created for it.

Sergei Mironov told about the experience of administration on the recycling: the employees picked up 1,3 tons of the paper and 150 kg of batteries. Andrei Lobov, the chapter of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts’ administration, offered to organize in apartment buildings the dual sorting garbage - to picked up separately the dry recycled waste (glass, paper for recycling, plastic and metals) and the humid non-recyclable garbage, including food wastes.

Roman Fatkhutdinov, the chapter of the Sovetsky district administration, told that the inhabitants of Kulseitovo and Nagorny picked up the garbage in bags of different colour. The inhabitants of Tsaritsyno are ready to support this project.

The young citizens of Kazan participate actively in the work of the sorting garbage. So, for example, the pupils of the school №54 of the Aviastroitelny district visited the Waste Transfer Station, wh ere they learned how the sorting garbage were organized in Kazan, as well the processing and utilization of wastes.

The head of the Department of Education Ilnar Khidiyatov told that the ecological school lessons, the ecological subbotnik and the campaign for the tree planting were held in Kazan. For 2 months more than 200 trees were planted on the territory of the educational establishments, 800 tons of the paper for the recycling were picked up in the city.

If we have an interest in the recycling, the percentage of the processed wastes can grow up to 35-40%

The Mayor of Kazan noted that the European cities had the experience of the recycling for a long time, but the capital city of Tatarstan should achieve it more quickly. We have to make leaps forward in the organization of the sorting garbage next year. According to his words, we need the waste processors, which would be interested in the recycling, then the percentage of the processed wastes can grow up to 35-40%.
