The Mayor noted that Kazan is the only city in the VFD where beneficiaries have the opportunity to use all types of transport.
(KZN.RU, February 26). At present, Kazan has the highest percentage of public transport rolling stock renewal compared with other cities in Russia. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of the Tatarstan’s capital, announced this today at the reporting XXXII session of the Kazan City Duma.
The head of the city reminded that 350 new low-floor, comfortable buses with an engine of the Euro-5 environmental standard were purchased in preparation for the World Cup. 104 buses are running on gas engine fuel.
Ilsur Metshin noted the support of the Republican Government and the President of the RT in the issues of improving transport communication in Kazan. “With the support of Rustam Minnikhanov, 52 trams and 85 trolleybuses were purchased for the last 3 years, including 20 trams in 2018. At present, Kazan has the highest percentage of public transport rolling stock renewal compared with other cities of Russia”, noted the Mayor of the capital of the RT.
He also reminded the difficult transition to the new transport scheme, which began to take root in Kazan 12 years ago. “I remember well that we had only a few allies and assistants. There was a lack of understanding, and moreover, clear opposition. But with the support of the republic’s leadership, a set of fair, competitive and, most importantly, established rules for the organization of transport communication was established in all court disputes”, said I. Metshin.
“Now “Gazels” and “Paziks” disappeared from Kazan’s streets. But they still serve the population in many cities. Kazan is the only city in the Volga Federal District with a network that connects all 4 types of transport, without separation into social and commercial routes”, summarized I. Metshin. He added that all of Kazan’s rolling stock work in a single schedule, at single regulated tariffs, benefit recipients have the opportunity to use any route and all modes of transport.
