<p> The territory of the Old town prefecture should be developed and improved, new growth points for the historical center of Kazan should be developed as well. This was stated today at a meeting of the headquarters for combating the spread of coronavirus by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. </p> <p> The Mayor reminded that the improvement of the Old town territory began with the elimination of dilapidated housing, and since then the territory has been improved every year. “At that time, we thought that we would not move this block, but under the leadership of the first President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and the present Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, especially on the eve of the Universiade, we started to raise this bar. We managed to take the first steps – we created a Prefecture and set tasks. Today, the Old Tatar Settlement is one of the historical centers of the city, which attracts the attention of both citizens and visitors of the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan”, - I.Metshin said. </p> <p> “The Old town has a bright future, the territory is not limited to Tatarstan street and Vakhitov square. We have plans for Fatkhullin street. And of course, our focus is on the largest territory – around the river port, - the Mayor said. – In the near future, we need to start working with architects to design and develop these sites” - I. Metshin noted that there is a lot of work to be done, the territory is complicated. “This is another big task and a point of growth for the historical center of Kazan. There are also difficulties – issues of technical regulations, hydraulic constructions that impose certain restrictions on us, but, nevertheless, it is time to start working and develop one of the most beautiful places of Kazan”, - I.Metshin said. </p>
