<p> By the beginning of the school year, 43 canteens were renovated in Kazan schools, which allowed increasing the area of canteens at the educational facilities and the number of seats in them by more than 2 thousand. Another 980 places appeared in the canteens of two new schools. From September 1, canteens began to work in the format of a school restaurant at 113 municipal schools. </p> <p> “We have set a priority task to make comfortable places of eating for children. At first, the residents were skeptical – they said that this was only for elite schools. However, today this is already our standard of municipal school meals – healthy, high quality, in good conditions. And we will definitely introduce this level to every school and to every student”, - Ilsur Metshin said at the Business Monday meeting at the Executive Committee of Kazan. </p> <p> During the renovation this summer, power, water supply, sewerage and ventilation systems were replaced in 43 canteens, a large amount of decoration was carried out, as well as furniture was purchased. Since the beginning of the school year, 159 thousand schoolchildren have been eating in school canteens, said Rima Mukhamedshina, Director General of the Department of Food and Social Nutrition. </p> <p> Taking into account the schools opened this year, the number of seats in educational facilities has increased by 3 thousand, and in just the last three years – by 6.5 thousand, she noted. </p> <p> “After a pause caused by the pandemic, we continued a large-scale renovation, - Ilsur Metshin commented. - Unfortunately, the scale of many tasks that we set and implement does not allow us to get a prompt result. Nevertheless, for a certain time we manage to fulfill these tasks. We will continue this work”. </p>
