More than 16.5 thousand vacancies were offered to the residents of the city.
(KZN.RU, April 22, Alena Miroshnichenko). In April, the unemployment rate in Kazan was 0.62%. This indicator is one of the lowest among large Russian cities. That indicates stability in the labor market, as well as the economy as a whole, said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, today at the Business Monday.
According to Marat Khairullin, the director of the Kazan Center for Employment, despite the low unemployment rates, the employment services continue to be in great demand. According to the expert report of the Boston Consulting Group, these services are among the top three most sought-after and affordable services provided electronically in Russia. From the beginning of this year, 8 basic public services of the employment service can be received electronically.
Marat Khairullin said that in the first quarter of the year, there were 22 thousand requests for public services, including consultations on various issues. More than 4 thousand people were registered to find suitable work, including 486 people of pre-retirement age. As a result, more than 2 thousand people were employed, 110 of them are of pre-retirement age.
“As of April 1, 3970 people were registered as unemployed in the city, which is 63 people more compared to the same period last year. The largest number of unemployed people is registered in the Sovetsky, Novo-Savinovsky, and Privolzhsky districts”, explained M. Khairullin.
Work fairs are created to help city residents find jobs. Since the beginning of the year, the Center for Population Employment of Kazan held 20 fairs, which were attended by personnel services of more than 100 enterprises and more than 5 thousand citizens. There are also work fairs for elderly citizens of Kazan in the framework of the Active Longevity exhibition and for people with disabilities.
“In the structure of vacancies, more than 60% continue to make up the working specialties. The specialties of employees occupy only 40% of the total number of vacancies”, said M. Khairullin. Compared to the same period last year, the number of vacancies increased slightly and amounted to more than 16.5 thousand.
In order to ensure effective employment of the population and improve the quality of public services, the Employment Center annually develops and approves the Employment Assistance Program in Kazan. Since the beginning of the year, 441 people, including 67 Kazan people of pre-retirement age, took part in public works. 48 people, including 14 citizens of pre-retirement age, took part in the temporary employment program experiencing difficulties in finding work. In addition, 440 people, including 43 Kazan pre-retirement age, received services for social adaptation and psychological support. 17 citizens who are particularly in need of social protection, including 9 people of pre-retirement age, are employed in reserved workplaces.
According to the Mayor of Kazan, it is important to work more actively with schoolchildren. M. Khairullin reported that now 150 schoolchildren are undergoing training under the program “Fundamentals of Business” within the framework of rendering the integrated service “Introduction to the profession”. 156 participants of youth and student labor groups are undergoing professional training for working professions.
“Making the choice of a profession is as important as creating a family. Therefore, our high school students need to see different professions through summer employment, work fairs, university programs so that they have an understanding of where to work and for whom to study”, said the Mayor. He instructed the Department of Education, the Committee on Children and Youth Affairs, and universities to organize this work.
The work continues to promote the employment of parents of debtors for maintenance payments for minor children, as well as those who returned from military service on conscription. Along with this, the work is underway to attract new organizations that have not previously applied to the employment service. “Following the results of the work, 134 organizations applied to the city’s employment service from the beginning of the year, 93 of them submitted more than 700 vacancies”, said M. Khairullin.
The speaker reminded that, according to Russian law, employers are required to provide monthly information to the employment service about the availability of works. At the same time, they can post information about vacancies on the portal “Work in Russia”.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, reminded that over the past 7 years, the unemployment rate in Kazan has not risen above 1%. “This speaks above all about the stable situation in the economy. Moreover, we have the defense industry working, as well as the aircraft industry, machine building, IT, chemistry, petrochemistry, tourism, and public catering. That is, people can find application to their professional abilities in almost any industry. In general, the range of offers for employment is wide enough”, said the Mayor.
