On September 1, almost 160 thousand Kazan schoolchildren will go to school– 11 thousand more students than the year before. “The growing number of schoolchildren is a serious challenge for all of us. Of course, we are encouraged by the increase of the number of schoolchildren, at the same time it poses serious challenges for us”, - Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, said today at the Business Monday.
More than 17% of students will study in the second shift
On the Day of Knowledge, two new schools will open in Kazan – “Unber” for 1501 children in the Art City residential complex and No.188 “Bionics” for 1224 children in the Salavat Kupere district. Despite the fact that new schools are being built in the city every year, there are still not enough educational institutions in the capital of Tatarstan. As of today, there are 193 schools in the city, including 169 municipal schools, 79 out of them are most loaded. A little more than 17% of students will study in the second shift from September 1, said the head of the Department of Education Irek Rizvanov.
“We are looking for any opportunities for the construction of schools, 40 land plots are reserved in the general plan in the city. Unfortunately, there is lack of necessary infrastructure: development of utilities is needed, somewhere it is necessary to install tens of kilometers of water pipes, sewage, etc. Nevertheless, this is all in our plans, and we are working on it. In particular, we will work on the possibility of expanding educational institutions”, - Ilsur Metshin said.
He cited the example of school No.93, school No.114 and the SOlnTSe school – annexes were built in these educational institutions. The same solution will be implemented in the school of the village of Salmachi.
By the new academic year, 43 canteens have been renovated and re-equipped
During the summer holidays, ongoing repairs and renovation were carried out in Kazan schools. In particular, 43 canteens have been renovated and re-equipped-now they will work as school restaurants. Renovation of sports halls in 16 educational institutions are being completed, repair of roof in one school, fencing in 13 schools, air vents are being restored in 128 educational facilities.
On September 1, celebratory assembly dedicated to the Day of Knowledge will be held. First-grade students will receive a Diary of Good Deeds as a gift from the city, second – graders will receive a Diary of a young Ecologist, and in addition, primary school students will receive a Cultural diary from the republic.
