I.Metshin: “The pandemic did not break us: in 10 months of this year, the economy of Kazan grew by 1.5%”

<p> Due to the consolidated work of industrial enterprises, all branches and levels of government, the Kazan economy rates demonstrate stability almost in all areas. This was announced today at the XV Congress of the Council of Tatarstan Municipalities by the Mayor of the capital Ilsur Metshin. Thus, the industrial production index for January-October amounted to 101.5%. </p> <p> <b>“We have already produced antibodies to challenges”</b> </p> <p> This year has become a real stress test for many of us, a serious aptitude test. However, today we can confidently say that the pandemic did not break us. Despite the difficult period, not a single development program in Kazan was stopped. Speaking in the language of this year, we have already produced antibodies to challenges, which allowed us to make operational decisions in this unprecedented situation to protect our residents and support our economy”, - I.Metshin said. </p> <p> Federal and republican programs can assist the economy of Kazan, I. Metshin noted. The construction works for 10 months amounted to 27.6 billion rubles, which is 13% higher than last year. In addition, this year Kazan has been allocated unprecedented funding for the implementation of road repair and construction programs – more than 14 billion rubles. </p> <p> The Mayor of Kazan spoke in detail about the measures taken in the city to combat the pandemic and protect the population. He expressed gratitude to all enterprises, organizations, residents of the city, medical workers for unity, mutual assistance and self-discipline. </p> <p> He also noted that the challenges did not prevent to mark the significant events of this year. “2020 will go down in history of Kazan as the year of the anniversary of the Great Victory. More than 8 thousand Kazan veterans, home front workers and war veterans received commemorative medals, gifts and payments”, - I.Metshin emphasized. </p> <p> 2.4 million citizens from all over Russia voted for awarding Kazan the honorary title “City of Labor Valor” for mass labor heroism and selflessness of residents during the war years, the Kazan Mayor reminded. </p> <p> <b>The safety margin allowed us to offset the negative effects”</b> </p> <p> Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov noted, in response to the challenges, municipalities together with the republican center implemented a set of measures to counteract the spread of coronavirus infection, social support for citizens in need and minimize the impact of the pandemic on the socio-economic development of the republic. In Kazan, special attention was paid to the support of medical workers, small and medium-sized businesses, epidemiological and financial protection of citizens. </p> <p> “Because of the pandemic, the economy is in a difficult situation.
