This year 1 billion 258 million rubles were allocated for the improvement of the parks in Kazan.

(KZN.RU, May 28, Ksenia Shvetsova). By June 15, the first part of the landscaped territory of the embankment of Lake Kaban will open, as well as a walking boulevard on Dekabristov Street. Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head and the chairman of the Committee of External Improvement, told about the plans of accomplishment for the current year today at the Business Monday.

In total, 8 objects are planned to be landscaped this year in Kazan, including the Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest, “Krylya Sovetov”, the embankment of the Nizhny Kaban Lake, and others. A number of objects will be opened by the beginning of the World Cup, and the rest of the parks and public gardens will be reconstructed by September of this year.

Over the past 7 years, 60 objects have been updated and created in Kazan, the total area of parks has increased by 125 hectares. Today the city has 140 parks and squares with a total area of 367 hectares. This year, work on the city's improvement will continue, 1 billion 258 million rubles have been allocated from the republican and federal budgets for this purpose.

The improvement of the park along Karbyshev Street, the creation of pedestrian boulevards along streets Dekabristov, Fucik, and Absalyamov will be among the new facilities.

It is planned to complete the zone for the House of Culture named after Lenin as part of the improvement of the park “Krylya Sovetov”.

The new objects will please citizens as a legacy from the Fan Festival of FIFA and the World Cup. Today there is a comprehensive improvement of the pedestrian zone to the site of the Fan Festival near the Family Center “Kazan” and adjacent territories. A comfortable pedestrian zone with a bicycle path, lighting, video surveillance, small architectural forms and art objects, a modern toilet module will be created there. The project also provides for the arrangement of a park with a recreation area and a pedestrian street.

By June 15, it is also planned to complete the first stage of accomplishment of the embankment of Lake Kaban. As I. Kulyazhev said, a pedestrian and bicycle path, lighting, video surveillance, installation of small architectural forms are planned on the site from the theater of G. Kamal to Planet Fitness.

“A phyto-purification system will be arranged near the trading rows of Altyn, with green plants that will purify the water in the lake. This technology has not yet been applied in our republic. This is the first unique project of its kind”, noted I. Kulyazhev.

The speaker also noted that the public and municipal services portal of the RT conducted a survey of residents on the choice of public spaces offered for improvement until 2022. The list of objects for improving in 2019 will be formed taking into account the results of voting in this online survey.

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, noted that over the past 10 years, Kazan has made tremendous progress in the improvement of parks and squares thanks to systematic work and constant attention to this issue by the leadership of the republic. “The key to achieving any goal is systematic work in the field of improvement. Kazan is a great example. For 10 years, we have reached such impressive results”, noted I. Metshin.

The head of the city also reminded that the subject of city improvement was sounded in the message of Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, when the head of the country cited Kazan as an example, noting the high pace of work on updating the infrastructure. “For the first time we heard in the message of the President of the country about the improvement of public spaces as a national idea”, said I. Metshin. “We must always challenge ourselves, and the resources will be found”.

This year, Kazan has taken increased responsibilities for the improvement of the city. Large-scale plans are complicated by the suspension of works for the duration of the World Cup. Despite this fact, all plans will be implemented, said the Mayor. “Promenade in Dekabristov Street, reconstruction of the road to S. Khakim, all this will remain our city. I am confident that the World Cup will change and raise our city higher as well-groomed, clean and comfortable one”, concluded I. Metshin.
