<p> (KZN.RU, April 2, Ksenia Shvetsova). Flood in Kazan is forecasted in the first decade of April. Snow stock in the city and its environs is about 120-150% of the average long-term values, so if there is a sharp warming, the problem zones may be flooded. The head of the Civil protection service, Ferdinand Timurkhanov, told the Executive Committee today on the business-Monday about the measures, which are held in the city to prevent floods. </p> <p> Since the beginning of the season more than 900 thousand tons of snow have been carried away from the streets of Kazan, thanks to this the central part of the city, industrial zone and social facilities aren’t in the problem list. The main floodwater problems can arise in areas along the low banks of the Volga and small rivers: Kazanka, Kinderka, Wertlevka, Noksa, Sukhaya. As F.Timurkhanov has told, that zone of possible flooding covers the territory of nearby 13 sq.km, including 386 houses with 1223 inhabitants. According to forecasts, the most difficult situations can occur in the territories of the Soviet and Privoljskiy’ districts of the city, along the banks of the Noksa River, in the Salmachi and Vishnevka surbubs. The documentation for the project of cleaning and deepening the Noksa River are prepared, as well as the construction of a bridge between the Salmachi and Vishnevka. This will help in the future solve of the problem of flooding in these settlements. </p> <p> "The most dangerous areas have been examined by specialists, equipment, boats and water-pumping mechanisms are of the search and rescue team of Kazan are ready for using,"-Timurkhanov said, adding that there are 190 units of equipment and 586 people in the city as a part of the emergency brigades. In addition, 40 automobile bridges, 16 ground crossings, 35 underground crossings were inspected. 9 automobile bridges fall into the risk zone, constant monitoring is organized for each of them. </p> <p> The Mayor of the city Ilsur Metshin invoked all services and district heads to be prepared for warming, which is possible according the forecasts during the current week.
