<p> The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin awarded the winners and prizewinners of the All-Russian Spartakiad in summer sports among the best athletes and players of the Unit team, which won the superfinal of the Leather Ball tournament. First Deputy Minister of Sports of Tatarstan Khalil Shaikhutdinov took part in the ceremony. </p> <p> “The All-Russian Spartakiad in summer sports among the best athletes ended in October, which became one of the most important and large-scale sporting events of the year. More than 9 thousand athletes took part in the competitions in 39 sports, which were simultaneously held in 12 regions of our country,”- the head of the city noted. </p> <p> According to I. Metshin, Kazan has always been famous for its athletes and sports schools. The victory of the Kazan Olympic Reserve Sports School in water polo at the Hope of Russia competition has proved once again. </p> <p> The Mayor awarded athletes, teams and their coaches with diplomas for the bronze, silver and gold medals won at the Spartakiad. Sergey Siran, an athlete of the Republican Badminton Sports School of the Olympic reserve, Alexandra Fomina from the Olympic Reserve Rowing Sports School, Ksenia Zadvornova from the Republican Judo Olympic Reserve Sports School, as well as coach of the Olympic Reserve Rowing Sports School Elena Garanina, coach of the Sports Training Center Dmitry Kriushkin and many others received the awards. </p> <p> I.Metshin also presented letters of thanks to the players of the Unit football club and the captain of the team Vadim Kostyagin, as well as awarded a diploma of honor to the head coach of the team Rustem Kanipov. For reference, according to the results of the superfinal of the Leather Ball tournament, the players Mikhail Shatov also became the top scorer, and Amil Gainullin was awarded as the best player. “In a fair and uncompromising competition, your team prevailed over the strongest teams, demonstrated perseverance and will to win. This victory is a truly historic event for the republic of Tatarstan, the Kazan team won the title of champion of the Leather Ball tournament for the first time without losing a single match at all stages of the competition,”- the Mayor reminded. </p>
