I. Metshin: “We are aiming to create one of the best equestrian tourism clusters here”

An equestrian complex is being reconstructed in the village of Mirny

The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin took part in an off-site meeting at the equestrian complex in the village of Mirny.

The equestrian club was established in the village of Mirny back in 2003, on the site of an abandoned cowshed. Currently, there are 64 horses from Arab, Old Tatar, and German breeds, among them are 54 club owned, as well as others, kept in the stable. Of these, 52 are club horses and the rest are privately owned. As many as 57 people work at the club every day. In addition to young athletes who train in dressage, circuit riding, and horse racing, children with disabilities also visit the club for hippo therapy sessions.

“We have set ourselves the goal of not only upgrading the entire infrastructure and creating new facilities for keeping horses and building stables, but also aiming to establish one of the best equestrian tourism hubs here,”- said Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan.

As a part of the first phase, a hippo therapy arena covering an area of nearly 3,000 square meters will be constructed. The building will include a training arena and two stable blocks for 30 horses each.

There will be an arena for athletes, nine stables for 240 horses, a two-story stable with utility rooms, a veterinary center, and three barrels and stepping stones for horse training. There will also be combat (3,000 square meters) and warm-up (1,200 square meters) fields, as well as a visitor center.

After the construction is completed, the area will be landscaped. Visitors will be able to relax in the spa center, which will be located next to sports and children's playgrounds and a pond.
