I.Metshin: “Kazan managed to maintain a network of health camps, and we are happy that they serve children”

After the renovation of the Molodaya gvardia camp, four its buildings have become year-round.

The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the progress of the renovation of the Molodaya gvardia health camp today. Currently, fourteen modern buildings are under construction, as well as sports grounds with an area of 9.37 hectares, and a large canteen is being reconstructed. After the renovation, the design capacity of the camp will increase from 242 to 280 children per shift, and a new museum will open there.

The camp, established in 1932, is one of the oldest in the city. “Kazan managed to maintain a network of health camps, and we are happy that they serve children. One of them is the Molodaya gvardia pioneer camp with a very rich history. Major repairs were carried out in it 60 years ago”, - the Mayor said.

The head of the camp Alexey Kuzin told the head of the city about the construction work. “When constructing the buildings, we take into account the fact that the camp is located in the forest, we tried to preserve every tree here,”- he said. Alexey Kuzin noted that there is still a lot of work to be done, the most challenging is the supply of all necessary utilities for the life support of the camp, as well as the insulation of 4 buildings so that children can rest in winter.

I.Metshin looked around one of the new buildings, and also got acquainted with the progress of repair at the canteen. Then the Mayor inspected the restoration work in one of the old buildings of the camp, where it is planned to open a museum. “The conditions for children are excellent, we must give the best to children, - I.Metshin emphasized. –We often hear from parents that they also would like to stay in our camps to rest.”

The renovation of the camp is planned to be completed by 2023, and it will be able to welcome young athletes - football players, basketball players, track and field athletes, speed skaters. A new football pitch, running tracks, an indoor sports ground, a complex of showers with saunas will be equipped there. “We will complete the construction of the club, doctor’s office and checkpoint”, - Minnegaray Nasibullin, director of the contractor organization Remontstroyservice LLC, reported to I. Metshin. In total, 10 dormitory blocks, 2 staff facilities and 2 storage rooms are under construction. One of the dormitory blocks is planned to be converted into a museum.

During the renovation, sports grounds that were recently built under the republican programs were preserved. “Thanks to the program of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, we have already managed to repair four camps – Zarechye, Unitur, Vostok and Molodezhny, - I.Metshin stressed. - Molodaya gvardia is a camp for the preparation of the trainees of our children's sports schools during the summer season. Classes in all summer sports will be available at the camp. A large amount of work should have be done. It will be not just a camp, but a real health resort, and at the same time a good sports base for training young athletes of Kazan”.
