I.Metshin: “The renovation of antenatal clinics shows respect, care and attention”

A renovated antenatal clinic at the municipal hospital № 18 opened in the Sovetsky district of Kazan.

In Kazan, 15 out of 16 antenatal clinics have been completely renovated. Today the Mayor of the city Ilsur Metshin inspected one of them at the Central Municipal Clinical Hospital №18. The head of the capital of Tatarstan noted that antenatal clinics are an important part of primary health care, so they require special attention.

“I remember well in 2007, when we visited the antenatal clinic on Golubyatnikov Street, and there was one light bulb in the surgery room, on the walls there were brown tiles from Soviet times. A woman can suffer a psychological discomfort, besides there was an unpleasant environment. Then we decided to renovate all antenatal clinics, - Ilsur Metshin said. – Presently, 15 out of 16 antenatal clinics have already been updated. We are at the finish line, and we are doing everything to ensure excellent conditions for both doctors and women”.

The clinic at 65 Gvardeyskaya Street was built in 1991, and overhaul was carried out here in 2010. The next renovation of the medical facility began in November 2019: the front, roof, light-current and ventilation systems were repaired, doors and windows, fire alarm systems were replaced, and construction works were carried out. In addition, the office and medical furniture were updated.

The antenatal clinic is equipped with four gynecologist's offices, a surgery room, a treatment room, an ultrasound room, a laboratory, as well as a training room for pregnant women. It serves 32 thousand women living in the surrounding area. Over the past year, 32 thousand visits to the medical facility were registered. 96% of the pregnant women delivered babies, and 722 children were born.

“It is very important that the number of new mothers is increasing in Kazan, and the number of abortions is steadily decreasing. Of course, a lot of preventive, information, and psychological work should be carried out. We must continue to develop appropriate conditions for women at the antenatal clinics to make a decision on childbirth, including the second, third, fourth child”, - the Mayor of Kazan noted during the visit.

“Spring is coming soon. They say that on March 8, it is necessary to give women not tulips, but respect. And I believe that renovation of antenatal clinics shows respect, care and attention to our women”, - the head of the city concluded.
