I.Metshin: “The playground, landscaping and mural – the yard has changed beyond recognition”

The renovation of the first site in 2021 under the Our Yard program completes in the Kirovsky district of Kazan.

In Kazan, the improvement of the yard area of four houses that were built more than 50 years ago has been completed. The yard at the house No.154 on Krasnokokshayskaya Street and houses No.8, 10, 12 on Povstancheskaya Street was the first to be renovated this year under the Our Yard republican program. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, got acquainted with the results of the improvement works today.

Sergei Mironov, head of the administration of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts, noted that the yard needed a comprehensive renovation. Now 449 residents have a landscaped territory with a playground and sports ground, comfortable benches, walkways, renovated sidewalks, small architectural forms and lighting. It should be noted that the residents of the houses actively participated in the discussion of the planned works.

The property management company carried out landscaping and part of the repair work. “This is a good example of synergy – under the Our Yard program, walkways were paved, pedestrian and roadway areas, sports and playgrounds were renovated, benches were installed, lighting elements were added, and works that are not included in the program were also carried out”, - Ilsur Metshin emphasized.

The mural at the heating station was decorated with a picture of a grandmother holding a balesh (national Tatar pie), as well as Russian and Mari patterns. The theme of graffiti is connected to the history of the district. Krasnokokshayskaya Street is located on the Kokshaysky highway, which connects Tatarstan with Mari El republic. “The mural symbolizes national unity. We are a multinational city, where representatives of more than 100 nationalities live in friendship and harmony. This is our greatest asset. It is good that in the Year of Native Languages and National Unity we reflected this idea”, - Ilsur Metshin supported the initiative.

The implementation of the Our Yard program is underway in other districts of the city. In total, the yard territories of 408 houses will be renovated in 2021. “This is 524 thousand sq.m of landscaped territory, the changes will affect 110 thousand residents of Kazan. We hope that after the improvement, residents will spend more time in the yards and communicate with each other. In general, this is what we strive for – a landscaped, beautiful and safe Kazan”, - the head of the city stressed.
