In May, the presentation of a new book by Guzel Yakhina “A convoy to Samarkand” will take place in Kazan. Today in Moscow, at a press conference at the TASS news agency, the writer presented a novel about the famine of the 1920s in the Volga region and announced meetings with readers.
The novel is set in 1923 in one of the “Dzerzhinsky trains”, on which 500 homeless children were evacuated to a more prosperous region to save their lives.
Guzel Yakhina has been written the book for two and a half years. Initially, the novel was conceived as a story about the dreams and challenges of several homeless teenagers from the Assumption Cathedral of Sviyazhsk. However, according to the writer, later she realized that in the early 20s of the last century, the life of all people in the country was affected by the Civil War and famine.
Guzel Yakhina is the winner of the Big Book, Yasnaya Polyana, Star Ticket awards, the author of the bestsellers “Zuleikha opens her eyes” and “My Children”. In 2019, the TV series based on the first book was filmed in Kazan, and in 2020, it was shown on federal television.
