Graffiti in the Year of the Family, a football pitch made of recycled tires and tables for board games: improvement of the yard on Zorge Street

The Mayor of Kazan inspected the progress of work on one of the largest yards of the Privolzhsky city district, covering 1,200 residents

In Kazan, one of the largest yards is being comprehensively landscaped under the Our Yard republican program – near residential buildings 93, 93a and 95 on Zorge Street. Children's and sports grounds with a rubberized surface will appear on the territory, part of the coating will be made from recycled tires. Benches and tables with canopies for board games will be installed for the elderly. Landscaping is carried out in the Year of the Family in Russia, therefore front of the nearby house will be decorated with graffiti dedicated to this topic. The progress of the renovation was inspected by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.

“This year we are improving the yards of 454 residential buildings in Kazan. The improvements will affect about 100 thousand residents. As of today, 20 yards have already been commissioned, and half of the work has begun. This large yard on Fuchika and Zorge streets will be ready in August. The project was discussed together with the residents. As a result, new pedestrian paths with a length of one kilometer will be laid. There will be five playgrounds for toddlers and teenagers and three sports grounds with various sports equipment. Besides, a large sports ground will be organized for playing mini-football, basketball and volleyball,”- Ilsur Metshin said.

Tatyana Yakusheva, one of the residents of house at 95 Zorge Street, discussed with the Mayor the improvement of their yard, where about 1,200 people live. “I've been living here since 1978. I grew up in this neighborhood, I am a member of the house council. My mother is now 90 years old, and she will be happy to walk, relax on the bench. The property management company took into account our requests. We are now waiting with inspiration to see how all this will be implemented,”- Tatyana Yakusheva shared.

Residents of houses at 93, 93a and 95 Zorge St. turned out to be pro-active – they took part in the discussion at all stages of the development of the yard improvement project, up to the choice of small architectural forms. It is at the request of residents that recreational areas will be equipped on the territory at the first stage of work.

Children's and sports grounds will be equipped in the yard, including an eco-zone with equipment made of natural materials. Sandboxes, swings, complexes with slides of different heights, rope and tactile zones will be installed for young residents.

The sports area will be equipped with a table tennis table, a rubber playing pitch measuring 30x15 meters for mini-football, volleyball or basketball. The coating will be partially made of recycled rubber.

Sidewalks without sides with a total length of over one kilometer will be laid in the yard for elderly. During the design, the routes of local residents were analyzed, so the paths were laid, taking into account the existing pedestrian connections. Benches and tables with canopies for games will be installed for chess fans.

In the Year of the family, graffiti will be applied by the property management company on the front of house at 89 Zorge Street. The property management company will also repair the entrances and the basement of houses.

All work is planned to be completed by the Day of the City and the Republic on August 30.
