Guests of “Delicious Kazan” ate 15 tons of food in three days

The festival was attended by 65 thousand people.

(KZN.RU, August 27). The gastronomic festival “Delicious Kazan” was held in the capital of Tatarstan from 23 to 25 of August; 65 thousand people attended it. In three days, more than 15 tons of food were eaten and more than 3 tons of drinks were drunk.

The sixth festival in a row broke several records at once: by the number of zones, participants, and visitors. 155 pavilions worked for guests, in which restaurants and cafes of the city, manufacturers of souvenir and farm products, ice cream and others presented their treats and goods.

This year the festival was divided into 5 thematic zones. In one of them, guests were treated with Tatar cuisine. The leading national cafes and restaurants of Kazan were presented there. Tastings, contests and music flash mobs were held for visitors. Innovators of national cuisine prepared a horse meat tatburger, Chack-chack-flavored ice cream and conducted a master class on cooking Tatar cuisine at the level of restaurants awarded Michelin stars.

In the festival area “Cuisines of the World”, restaurants of European, Mediterranean, Caucasian, Asian, American and Japanese cuisine organized the sale of their best dishes. Also, short cooking workshops were held and unique recipes were presented. Demonstrations of Fedor Titenka, the champion of Russia and one of the best pizza makers in the city, took place on this site. In addition, the cooks of one of the Uzbek restaurants in the city taught the guests to cook and eat a real pilaf.

One of the most comfortable areas of the festival was the site “Street Food and Kitchens on Wheels”. In addition to Kazan participants, guests from Ulyanovsk, Izhevsk, and Samara presented their version of street food.

Sweets and drinks, souvenirs were also presented at separate sites for visitors, a lecture hall and a children's play area were organized.

For the first time at the festival, one could buy the Kazan cake, a new gastronomic brand of the city.

In addition to the event, various quests, contests, and voting took place as well. So, in the competition for the title of “The most delicious restaurant in the city”, the first place was taken by the Cafe “Skazka”, the second place went to “Lafa”, and the third place is taken by “Ashale”.

At the festival, with the support of the Department of Food and Social Catering of Kazan, a popular vote was held for dishes that can be included in the school menu. Soon the selected dishes, adapted by the department’s specialists, will appear in school canteens, reports the Tourism Promotion Committee.
