The Russian State Duma adopts the law on “Games of the Future”

The document provides for the goals of the competitions, as well as the powers of the organizers

Deputies of the Russian State Duma in the second and third readings adopted a law on the international multisport tournament “Games of the Future”. The document defines the goals of the competition, the powers of the organizers and other provisions of the tournament.

According to the law, the aim of the competition is promotion of sports that combine physical activity and digital technologies at the national and international levels, giving athletes the opportunity to show and develop skills, as well as strengthen cooperation between participants of the Games, coaches and judges.

The tournament will be held in at least two sports disciplines with a certain frequency – once a year or once every four years. A subject of the Russian Federation or a municipal entity will be able to act as the host party.

For reference, Games of the Future will be held in Kazan on February 21 - March 3, 2024. The competitions will combine 21 disciplines. Each of them combines the concept of phygital -traditional sports and esports or VR/AR technology. It is expected that more than 2,500 participants from 100 countries will take part in the Games, and up to 150 million people will become online viewers of the competitions worldwide.
