Expert of KFU: “Last winter in Kazan was the coldest in the past 10 years”

The precipitation deficit in May and the temperature above normal –Tatarstan Weather Service provides forecast for spring.

Spring has come in Kazan – the sun has moved from the northern to the southern hemisphere. According to the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, April in Tatarstan will be warm, the average temperature will be above normal, 4-5 degrees Celsius. Yuri Perevedentsev, head of the Department of Meteorology, Climatology and Atmospheric Ecology of the Kazan Federal University, told about the weather in Kazan this spring at a press conference at the Tatar-Inform News Agency.

“The meteorological spring begins when the average daily temperature is above zero. Usually in Kazan, this happens at the junction of March and April, and then there is the snowpack destruction -from the beginning of the second decade of April”, - said Yuri Perevedentsev.

According to forecasters, the spring in Tatarstan will be warm – the air temperature in April will be above normal and will average 4-5 degrees Celsius, in May it is predicted about 13 degrees. In May, there may be absence of precipitation, which can negatively affect agriculture. Summer in Tatarstan is also expected to be warm.

Timur Aukhadeyev, Associate Professor of the Department of Meteorology, Climatology and Atmospheric Ecology of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management outlined that the last winter in the capital of Tatarstan was the coldest in the past 10 years. In December, the air temperature was below normal, and the winter minimum temperature was recorded from February 15 to March 1.
