The festive program in the capital of Tatarstan includes about 130 activities
Guzel Sagitova, Deputy Head of the Kazan Executive Committee, reported about the preparations for the celebration of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Kazan at the Business Monday meeting. The city will host about 130 activities, including flower laying, concerts and fireworks.
“The theme of the Great Patriotic War shaped our worldview in our generation. We absorbed this content, as they say now, and clearly understood what is “good” and “bad”. Now, when there are many who want to shift the emphasis, turn history around and turn black into white, and vice versa, it is certainly very important to maximize the opportunities of patriotic education, to convey the true story to our younger generation, to those who decide the future, on whose shoulders our great Motherland will remain,”- commented the Mayor of the city Ilsur Metshin.
The activities will start on April 25. On this day, commemorative events will be held in the districts of Kazan at the monuments to the fallen during the war. Schoolchildren, veterans and residents of neighborhoods will take part in the events.
The All-Russian campaign St. George's Ribbon will start on April 26. Every day until May 9, residents will be distributing ribbons on Baumana Street and in parks and squares of Kazan.
The Spartakiad in military applied sports among children and youth will take place on 29-30 April.
Traditionally, Victory Day will begin with the laying of flowers at the Arkhangelskoye and Arskoye cemeteries, in Victory Park – to the Eternal Flame, monuments to Mothers and Widows, Home Front Workers and Soviet Soldiers.
The main events will take place at Millennium Square, where the passage of the city garrison troops and the passage of historical equipment will begin at 10:00.
The legendary T-34 and IS-3 tanks, the SU-100 self-propelled artillery system, the PT-76 floating tank, armored personnel carriers, the BM-13 Katyusha launcher will be demonstrated.
Dmitry Pevtsov, People's Artist of Russia, will be a special guest of the holiday with a patriotic musical program.
The festive program will take place in Victory Park. Theme sites will be open there during the day. The Young Army cadets will show the parade and the participants of the children's festival “Fanfare of Victory” will perform with a gala concert. The best children's and youth orchestras will also perform on stage.
The museum installation “Everything for the front! Everything for Victory!” will open in the Kazan Kremlin, which will simultaneously become a photo zone for visitors.
In the evening, a concert will be held on Millennium Square with the participation of masters of arts, youth groups and collectives, a consolidated city choir within the framework of the Singing Kazan project.
The celebrations will end with a festive firework at 10 pm.
