The landscaping is planned to be completed by the Day of the City and Republic
One of the largest children's parks in Russia is being built on the Kazanka Embankment. More than eight thousand people can visit the park with an area of 3.4 hectares. It will have playgrounds and recreation areas, a multipurpose pavilion and fountain, a cafe and the city's first natural maze. The new public space is already 40% completed. Despite the active construction, experts continue to refine the details of the park's design. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, visited the site and instructed to pay special attention to the safety of public space.
The Mayor noted that it is planned to complete the landscaping of the park at the end of August – by the Day of the City and the Republic. From 100 to 300 workers and 10-30 vehicles are involved in the facility every day. Closer to the completion of construction, more people and vehicles will be involved to the site to install equipment that is already being manufactured.
“Today, the largest children's park with an area of almost 3.5 hectares is under construction. It will accommodate up to 8 thousand visitors at the same time: children, parents, grandparents. To date, the work has been fully deployed, there is everything necessary. We hope that by the Day of the City and the Republic we will open a children's park for the young Kazan residents,”- Ilsur Metshin said. He added that the equipment for the park is produced by Russian companies, the last deliveries of equipment items are expected in mid-August.
The project of the public space began to be developed back in 2019. The main theme of the park is water, as the old riverbed of the Kazanka River passed through this place.
To date, concrete and network works have been completed in the park. Specialists have started connecting light points and video cameras. The playground in the new park will be one of the largest in the country. Children of all ages can play on it. The playground will be divided into functional zones. Today, the implementation of the idea has already begun – swings and small sandboxes have been installed.
The builders also erect a multipurpose pavilion, in which it is planned to open a cafe, a public toilet and a workshop of the Archideti project. The work on the arrangement of the fountain next to the pavilion is being completed.
Another area for children's games will be a natural maze, which will be made of dense clipped shrubs. Six lamps will be installed in it to illuminate the space in the evening. The maze will be available throughout the year.
A stage will be set up in the park for events of various formats, including concerts, city holidays or local events, for example, performances by creative teams.
Landscaping of the territory is very important. The authors of the project relied on the idea of creating a green oasis with a multi-level landscape as opposed to an urbanized embankment. So, almost 300 deciduous and 400 coniferous trees, over 3,300 shrubs, 530 linear meters of hedge blocks will be planted in the park.
Outdoor chairs, sun loungers, benches, including in the form of pebbles, urns, stands will be installed in the public space.
