Two-thirds of the tourists visiting Kazan return again.
(KZN.RU, January 14, Alina Berezhnaya). 150 thousand tourists visited Kazan on New Year's holidays. The guests of the capital of the RT were residents of different cities of Russia and other countries, including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, France and the USA. Daria Sannikova, the director of the Committee for Tourism Promotion, told about this today at the Business Monday in the Kazan Executive Committee.
According to the speaker, the average occupancy of Kazan hotels and hostels was 78.4% on New Year’s holidays. Most often, guests stayed in hotels fr om 3 to 5 of January and spent 3.5 nights in Kazan. The hotel occupancy during this period was 96%. For comparison: it was 85% in Moscow and 80% in St. Petersburg. At the same time, the number of individual tourists increased by 8-10%. “This is a good trend for the entire tourism area. Our task is to present our city widely and colorfully so that the number of tourists would increase. We have to represent Kazan even more vividly in order to be unique not only in Russia, but also in the world”, said D. Sannikova.
She noted that a considerable part of tourists come to Kazan again. “This is a very important area for us. On average, two thirds out of 100% of tourists returning is a good rate. We are developing new tourist facilities that could again interest tourists and encourage them to come again”, said D. Sannikova.
Speaking about the popular objects of Kazan in the New Year holidays, Daria Sannikova noted that the Reserve-Museum “Kazan Kremlin” and the GRK “Kazan Riviera” are traditionally the most attractive ones. During the New Year holidays, 159 thousand and 24 thousand people, respectively visited them. The number of visitors to the museum “Tatar Bistese” increased as well (1200 guests). Over 1400 guests of the capital visited the Chuck-Chuck Museum, which is 20% more than last year's New Year holidays, and 1900 tourists visited the City Panorama Museum. The peak of museums popularity was on January 7-8.
The first winter festival “KyshDaKar-Fest” received great attention from the guests of Kazan. For nine days, about 20 thousand people got acquainted with local farm products, became participants in master classes and tasted the cheeses of Tatarstan farmers. According to Daria Sannikova, the festival is planned to be held annually.
In addition, about 200 thousand residents and guests of the city filled up with the New Year mood in the ice town near the Family Center “Kazan”, wh ere the main city Christmas tree was installed. Tourists have mentioned the New Year decoration of Bauman Street, the embankment of the Kaban Lake and the bridges on Bulak as well.
Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Kazan Executive Committee, noted that the New Year holidays in Kazan were held at a decent level. “The hotel occupancy by 96%, as well as an increase in the turnover of catering, cultural institutions, is not just good, but an excellent rate. This year, we have put a lot of effort into making tourists and residents feel the festive atmosphere in cafes and restaurants and on the streets of the city. In general, the New Year holidays in the city were calm and festive”, said D. Kalinkin.
