Denis Kalinkin: “Blooming Kazan is not just a beautiful image, but our annual target”

<p> About 60 streets of Kazan in the summer season will be adorned with more than 3 million flowers. Floral decoration will be carried out on an area of 19,000 sq.m. This was announced at the Business Monday meeting by the head of the Land Improvement Committee of the city Igor Salyakhutdinov. </p> <p> “Blooming Kazan is not just a beautiful image, but our annual target. This year, the Gorvodzelenkhoz planted about 1.5 million flowers, and in total, 3 million flowers will be planted in the city. We have assistants in this work – Kazan residents used to decorate the front gardens of their houses and now thanks to the Our Yard program there are many times more blooming yards,”- said Denis Kalinkin, First Vice Mayor of the city. </p> <p> Igor Salakhutdinov noted that 55 million rubles were allocated for planting 1.5 million flowers, another 108 million rubles have been allocated for additional landscaping of urban areas. </p> <p> “Floral decoration will be carried out on 60 streets on an area of more than 19 thousand square meters. In addition, the municipal enterprises and organizations will carry out the decoration. They join the landscaping every year, and together we manage to make urban landscapes more beautiful,”- he said. </p> <p> Flower beds will decorate Pushkina st., Lobachevskogo st., N.Yershova st., Orenburgsky tract, Universiade Avenue and other streets. </p> <p> More than 2 thousand flower pots will be installed on 40 streets along the main roads of the city – on Kremlevskaya st,, Vishnevskogo st., Kamaleeva st., Yershova st,, Pavlyukhina st., Orenburgsky Tract. For this purpose, more than 32 thousand pieces of petunia seedlings are used,”- I. Salakhutdinov reported. </p> <p> About twenty 3D compositions consisting of 50 flower structures will be installed in different parts of the city. </p> <p> “They can be found near sports venues, along highways and at the Ekiyat Puppet Theater. The annual flower festival will bloom there again with a colorful garden,”- he explained. </p> <p> The main planting of flowers will begin in early June. The largest flower beds will be located near the Kazan circus– 1.2 thousand square meters, as well as at the Aquatics Palace– more than 1 thousand square meters. </p> <p> The Head of the Land Improvement Committee said that only certified flower seedlings of 20 species will be used: begonia, gazania, tobacco plant, dahlias and others. The most popular species for planting are marigold, salvia and petunia – a total of about 300 thousand pieces. </p> <p> The design of flower beds is developed by architects-dendrologists. The main requirement is to take into account the proportions of the heights of the seedlings used, the harmony and low maintenance of the plants. </p> <p> “Unfortunately, last year some flower beds were spoiled by vandals. There were incidents of stealing seedlings. I would like to ask: let's take care of floral decorations so that they can delight us throughout the summer. Flowerbeds and flower arrangements grace the streets of the city every year. They decorate the daily life of Kazan residents and leave vivid memories for the tourists,”- Igor Salakhutdinov summed up. </p>
