Denis Kalinkin: “We must patiently explain to people that the order in their yard depends entirely on them”

Since the beginning of the winter period, 265 thousand tons of snow have been removed from Kazan streets.

(KZN.RU, December 14, Ksenia Shvetsova). Since the beginning of the winter period, 265 thousand tons of snow have been removed in Kazan, in January – 113 thousand tons. Every day, about 615 units of special equipment and 600 road workers are involved in cleaning the city. Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Executive Committee, reported this at the Business Monday today.

According to the Hydrometeorological Center of the RT, 22 mm of precipitation fell from the beginning of January to today, which is 61% of the norm. In December, 54 mm of precipitation fell, or 142% of the monthly norm. “Works on cleaning roads and sidewalks are organized in accordance with the technology and the prescribed time intervals for carrying out operations,” he said.

Since the beginning of the winter period, 265 thousand tons of snow have been exported, including 113 thousand tons in January. Snow disposal is carried out to stationary snow-melting points. They utilize from 6 to 8 thousand tons of snow per day, which is 14% higher than the total design capacity. With the help of MUP “Vodokanal”, additional heavy equipment is used at snow-melting points for storing snow on the site with later disposal. In addition, 7 additional places for temporary storage of snow are open on the territory of the districts.

In general, there were no accidents at road facilities over the past period, noted the speaker. He added that now all the main city roads are in good state. The works on snow removal, cleaning of sidewalks and bus-stops, driveways and roads continue in daily mode.

On New Year's holidays, all the main highways of Kazan were in working mode despite the snowfall. The road workers cope with their duties, said Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee. He urged road services to pay attention to cleaning the roads of the second and third categories. “This winter, we have fewer complaints on the sidewalks in the central part of the city. This results from the fact that, having achieved an increase in expenses on the center sidewalks’ maintenance, we received the lever of influence on contractors. Gradually, it is necessary to improve the quality of cleaning the rest of the city to this level”, said D. Kalinkin.

Up to 2730 janitors and 152 units of special equipment were used daily for cleaning yards and driveways from snow and ice on holidays, informed Dmitry Anisimov, the chairman of the Housing and Communal Services Committee. Roofs were regularly cleaned in order to avoid icicles falling and snow caps coming down during the New Year holidays. In total, 758 roofs were cleaned. “The situation was complicated by the fact that the snowfall did not stop all these days. The Housing and Communal Services Committee regularly inspected snow removal in yards. The entrances and sidewalks were cleaned in a timely manner, but there were complaints about the cleaning of the driveways because of the parked cars of the citizens”, said D. Anisimov.

“We have repeatedly talked about the need to negotiate with the citizens who own cars. In some places, they provide the schedule of cleaning the yards, but in other places, they have not learned to warn the residents”, marked Denis Kalinkin. “However, not everyone moves their cars even with the warning. We have to explain to people patiently that the order in their yard depends entirely on them”, he added and once again urged the citizens to move the cars in the yards while cleaning the snow.

The head of the Executive Committee also instructed to pay special attention to the timely cleaning of the roofs of buildings in order to prevent the falling of snow caps and icicles. “It is not only residential buildings, but also facilities, enterprises, shopping facilities, educational institutions. Everyone should assess the state of roofs, the thickness of the snow, icicles and take timely measures to eliminate them”, marked D. Kalinkin. He instructed the administrative and technical inspection to strengthen control in this area.
