The celebration of the 30th anniversary of the signing of an agreement on twin-town relations with Kazan takes place in Braunschweig.
(KZN.RU, November 1). Yesterday, a holiday was held in Braunschweig (Germany), for the residents and guests of the city, “The Day of Friendship of Braunschweig – Kazan”. 30 years ago, the German city became the first twin-city of Kazan.
The city cultural center presented the history of relations between the two cities. There were photos and household items of Kazan citizens, which for 30 years were collected by G. Legel, an inhabitant of Braunschweig. In 1988, he stood at the origins of the birth of relations between the two cities, and for many years he was the director of the Brakke school and organized school exchanges. Legel also presented at the exhibition paintings of the Kazan artist Ildar Zaripov from his personal collection. Guests were able to see the friendship of Kazan and Braunschweig through the drawings of students of Kazan art schools.
A master class on making badges was organized in a separate room for young Braunschweig citizens. Images for them were developed by a local designer. The Kazan Tourism Promotion Committee presented brochures and souvenirs at the exhibition.
Representatives of the Department of Food and Social Catering of Kazan treated the guests of the holiday with chak-chak and other Tatar national sweets. Nearby you could taste German traditional dishes as well.
As part of the “Day of Friendship”, the concert program was held in the concert hall of the cultural center. Anke Kaphammel, the vice-mayor of Braunschweig, Evgenia Lodvigova, the vice-mayor of Kazan, Kamil Iskhakov, an assistant to the President of the RT, as well as Reva Idiatullin, the former chairman of Kazan Executive Committee, and Luiza Kosmylina, the deputy director of the NCC Kazan, who signed a historical document 30 years ago, took part in it. In addition to Braunschweig artists, Kazan representatives also performed on the stage: Reseda Galimova, an Honored Artist of Russia, the chamber orchestra “New Music” conducted by Anna Gulishambarova, an Honored Artist of the RT, and soloists of the Kazan dance ensemble.
On October 29, a bronze slab with the emblem of Kazan opened on the main street of Braunschweig in front of the City Hall. It became the ninth in a row with other plates dedicated to the twin cities of Braunschweig.
The events are held as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the twin-city agreement between Kazan and Braunschweig, which takes place from October 28 to November 1 in the German city.
